i know i drew Daisy x Lucy that one time but i also realistically cant imagine that ship actually being viable haha?? their relationship is so strained
sure those two are "friends" but only superficially. theres no real trust there. mostly cause of daisy's huge insecurity she projects onto lucy. this has caused daisy to be honestly a terrible friend to lucy. sure lucy has been blunt and rough with daisy, but when compared to others lucy has actually had a soft hand with daisy despite everything. however the biggest core issue is that daisy never apologized for things in confrontation and hasnt shown lucy any big change to make her believe things are different. as far as lucy knows, daisy is someone lucy can't rely on if she was in danger.
which is super sad!!!!!! if i actually ship anything between them its some actual friendship based in trust and bonding. but its so hard right now to see it happening. it would need to come from daisy realizing and owning up to how cruel shes allowed herself to be in her jealously and even then im not sure lucy can ever trust it.
honestly those two may have never been around each other if not for proximity to mike, but mike is also what exacerbated things..
but either way, thats what fan works are for! u can play with them like dolls and come up with AUs where their relationship works out better
also to talk about actual current goings on in the comic. yeah looks like augustus is assuming things on lucy's behalf. the reality seems to be though her current turmoil isnt so much just her deteriorated relationship with mike, but the way its awakening the latent trauma from her sexual assault in confrontation. although of course lucy isnt telling augustus this. i imagine partly just cause her nature to bottle things, but also probably due to augustus's own history with alejandro.
yes its been years now. but of course confrontation continues to fuck lucy up. she was assaulted. just before the people who were there with her spoke about viewing her as someone only worth looking at. when the assault happened, it was only really mike who came to her aid while she risked everything to protect everyone else. when it was over, excluding mike, no one comforted her or apologized about cruel things said.
course the situation was more complex, the reason others didnt intervene wasnt due to them not valuing her life. in fact, paulo and sue tried fight at first. they were all just kids. many were paralyzed in fear. some got too injured to do anything more. but again, to lucy, also a kid, all she could gather from her perspective was the trauma of the assault and no one but mike aiding her.
maybe if she spoke up to the others about how raw it left her. the others would acknowledged what was done to her and it would have given her closure. but thats expecting a traumatized and already closed off kid to have that emotional strength. its realistic she never did. she likely since figured that since no one did that on their own it means they dont care about her enough. which course is not the truth of it but its understandable to think.
on the surface it seems the event didnt affect anyone else like it did her. exacerbating her feelings of being alone in this. the thing is theres been many hints that it did affect the others.
i wonder if this will be what cracks open everything and they all finally confront what happened in confrontation. we'll see..
ooo interesting! this was a long time coming? so mike's mom does recognize how unfair the babysitting situation is to haley. cause that did seem to suck to me. haley isnt even the oldest. which was the other elephant, mike apparently never watched chris before until haley pushed him into doing it instead in Adult Supervision. i suppose the thinking there could have been, that as older one, Mike has more school responsibilities? so he was left off the hook? of course in the end, this isnt responsibility that should fall solely on either. or mike's mom. mike's dad should be stepping up more. which is the problem revealed here. wtf, mr scott.
like others seem to theorize, i wonder too if this focus, is to highlight some parallel in dynamics to mike's relationships?
seeing more of the home lives of characters is really neat. for the most part, parents weren't really a big presence in BCB with some exceptions. not a bad thing, per say. it made sense for early tone of writing. but of course family interactions is big part of peoples lives, better or worse. so it makes sense how family keeps being more forefront these days.
yeah mike is going through it currently but what if i ignore that and draw him in a pretty dress and make up
