@anonfelis
what brushes do u use
Oh i totally missed this ask in my inbox oops. For the most part i just use default clip paint brushes with anti-aliasing off. The pen "for effect line" is my go to. Clearly not really the intended use for it though aha. Some of my real early fan art was done in ms paint then messed with in clip paint.
happy 20th anniversary to my favorite webcomic ever 🤍🩶🧡💛
I definitely don't think anyone should forget that Lucy's behaviour was still not okay just because they should remember Mike's actions. I just think they shouldn't forget the actual nuances that MIKE made it seem like it was perfectly okay for so long and enjoys being a playful rascal. Mike is not 100% innocent soft boi victim of Lucy, he contributed and provoked her! He enjoyed it sometimes! I just hate when people try to paint Lucy as super evil for it when Mike made it seem okay!
Veronica: Yes, it’s frustrating that when it comes to this topic you have to pick your words carefully because a lot of people think in absolutes. If Lucy went too far, that means Mike never went too far. If Mike went too far, that means Lucy never went too far. Because Mike might have invited and even enjoyed his old dynamic with Lucy at times, that means Lucy should have never changed. Because Mike started to feel hurt by Lucy’s behaviour, that means Lucy’s behaviour always hurt and she was always abusive. Because Mike used Lucy as a replacement Sandy that means his dynamic with Lucy was always toxic. Etc etc etc!
Many things can be correct at the same time! That’s the point! That’s why this debate is so tough! That’s why this debate is ongoing!
I feel like there’s also a lot of understandable projection. Like a lot of people will say that if they were in Mike’s shoes, they would have not tolerated Lucy AT ALL. Or they experienced a Lucy, and she was an abuser to them. So this means Lucy has to be an abuser to Mike.
.. But you’re not Mike. Mike is his own person with his own tolerances and his own conflicting feelings and his own boundaries. And he prided himself in understanding Lucy’s nuances and reading her, and empathising with her. Before things changed, of course.
Same goes for Lucy! I know there were people who HATED Mike during Eternal Flame, and were flabbergasted that she let him in, that she helped him. Despite it all. “If I was in Lucy’s shoes I wouldn’t have done that!” but she did. Despite it all, she did.
And I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do, or that if you were in her shoes you did the wrong thing. Those are just objective decisions Lucy made because of the character she is. No judgement or moral lesson or “correct action” or anything. Lucy and Mike make their decisions because of the people they are.
✨BCB leading ladies ✨
Happy 20th anniversary, Bittersweet Candy Bowl!!
btw only recently i learned the connection between abyssinian and somail cats. a funny detail to abbey and paulos dynamic i never knew lol.
are the human mario characters cats and dogs in the bcb-verse. dog mario. dog luigi. cat peach. cat daisy. in bcb the cat suit in mario 3D world wasnt its big thing because that was just already part of the base moveset. unfortunately this meant they ironically never had meowser. this is why bcb is the lessor world compared to ours.
sorry but paisy cute. i feel like david.
stay with me.
Veronica: This was a birthday gift for me from bramble!!! ;__; I still love looking at it so much…… the colours and the shading and the purple sky aaaaaa.. the heartbreaking mucy content i crave

So what is Lucy and Augustus’s relationships after the last chapter? Are they siblings? dating?
Veronica: I guess they’re roommates lol
Lucy’s admittedly a little weird ™ about Augustus, but Augustus totally sees her like a sister at this point.

I want to talk about Lucy's nightmares...
The nightmares first started happening when Mike started to pull away from her -- we see in the flashback that the first one likely happened just before December, since it's a direct parallel to the chapter "On Our Own."
And the nightmares are specifically about Confrontation, and getting trapped & held down & assaulted, BUT they are ALSO about being abandoned by everyone who cares about her. It features Paulo reducing her to the "thrill of the chase" and wanting to "have [his] way with her," and Daisy responding with "that's all she is." All real things they have said within her hearing & never apologized for! Then Mike leaves, and Alejandro shows up.
In other shown iterations of the dream, it involves Lucy being alone and trapped, running down alleyways to try and escape, only to be cornered -- not by one shadow, but many:
Alejandro is the main shadow, but the others chasing her? There are three more shadows there. Toby isn't ever featured.
It's revealed in Third Degree Burn who those other shadows belong to:
Sue and Daisy and Paulo feature prominently. Mike is nowhere to be seen in these iterations.
In Confrontation, Lucy's perspective was that Mike was the ONLY person who would step in to defend her -- from physical threats AND cruel words.
He's the only one who steps in to say something when Daisy and Paulo are talking about how much Lucy sucks. Lucy overhears all of this.
And then, during the attack, Lucy steps up to defend everyone after taking a minute to assess the situation. She tries to get Daisy to run off, she tries to step in to defend everyone when everyone else has been knocked down -- and she does pretty okay for a minute. Then she gets pinned down, clawed up, and assaulted. And I want to note that she is the only kid in their group who is told that she is desirable by this absolute creep & the only kid who is touched like that. Immediately singled out as the pretty one, and immediately pushed in a different direction instead of just being knocked around.
And none of her friends defend her here. Sue, Daisy, and Paulo all just watch and cry during this. And yes, they're kids, but from Lucy's perspective they're not even trying. Paulo tried to step up to defend Sue, Sue tried to step up to defend Paulo, and everyone is trying to keep Daisy out of it. But then Lucy just gets WAILED on and touched inappropriately with no intervention.
And all of this sticks with her. We can see her continually remember their inaction and immediately disconnect from Sue in "It's All in the Mind," from Daisy in "Rain Check," and from Paulo in "Double Down":
In Confrontation, Mike was the only one who stepped up to defend her. Physically or emotionally. So when he steps out of the picture as her friend, she starts to flash back to this traumatic thing that happened to her -- only now she knows that no one is going to step in to help.
And then Mike makes it way, way worse, by using her as his quick and inconsequential rebound in "Eternal Flame." He dumps all of his feelings on her, he says something incredibly touching and romantic, he lets her kiss him, and then he immediately dumps her for the person he actually cares about. Lucy doesn't matter to him based on his actions.
So now she's truly, fully alone. Queue nightmares.
ha ha yikes what a mess
really funny how david is here also
