Hmmm well, as someone who has created graphics and gifs for various fandoms over the years on this hell site, I found finding the popular tags for said fandom helped, but truly it was engaging with other people and building a little circle within the community to hype each other up and appreciate each other's contributions to our shared passions mattered the most 😊 Speaking as someone who can be awkward and shy, it can be hard to rip the bandaid off but I promise you, it's totally worth it!

Honestly, I've gotten to the point where the amount of followers you have doesn't matter at all to me as it's easy to get sucked into the popularity contest which somehow equates to a warped and oh so toxic validation of self worth, which is in my opinion, complete and utter bullshit.

TL;DR Create what you love and share it regardless! Those who love it will find it and be just as passionate about it as you are 💕
