man it might seem stupid when i type it out but here we go. in list form because i love lists.
the fandom was negative and it was ruining my chill aesthetic.
the writing was just *sighs*
the cast said some regrettably ignorant or rude things.
just my own life tbh
now let’s clarify.
1. the fandom — when i say this, i’m obviously not saying everyone. i know many people who were really kind throughout everything and tagged their wank and everything. i know many people who were courteous even though they were upset about something. but there were a lot of other people who weren’t as nice and it really got me down at times. because i tend to believe that fandom is like a family (i know it’s cheesy and naive, but i really do believe it) and i didn’t really like the negativity floating around in the tags, on the dash, etc. etc. however the people on my kinda-not-really-follow-forever were all pretty good about that so don’t worry about following them. follow them i really encourage you to you have no idea how great their blogs are. even though they were negative i don’t really blame them for it which brings me to my next point.
2. *long sigh* — oh my god… the writing. there were many highlights of spn and parts of it i really really loved and adored. but there were a lot of points that just really annoyed me. for instance the whole “busty asian beauties” thing just made me uncomfortable because i’m an asian girl and i hate how dean objectified women like that? (there was a post on it that really described it well but i can’t find it lmao my life) i just don’t think that someone who would save the world like that and loves their mother would treat women like trash. and just the treatment of women in general basically. i hated how female characters were just killed off. i hated the discontinuity. i hate discontinuity is one of my biggest pet peeves in television. now this might just be biased because i love castiel, but i really hated how they treated him.
3. the cast — i won’t really go on and on about this one but you probably already know what i’m talking about. all them tweets. all them panels. i really started to look up to some of them and, honestly, i got tired of it.
4. lastly, my life — this is probably the biggest reason why i left. like percentage wise, the first three probably added up to around 40% and this is probably the last 60%. but i kind of ties in with the other reasons. watching 8 seasons of spn took a toll on my life both academically and socially. i was obsessed with maintaining a pretty spn blog and keeping up with networks, making graphic, and botms. i became really lazy and passive in my actual life, both of which i never wanted to become. when i started posting photography/marvel/other stuff, it was just more freeing. i know it’s not like that for everyone, but i just felt better about myself posting photography. so that’s that.
wow this turned out to be quite long, but now you know. thank you. and i love you too dw. and despite everything i just said up there, i still love the spn fandom, the cast, and the show and it will always hold a special place in my heart. i just don’t want to dedicate so much of my time and effort to it anymore.
