fanfic ask game number 4

Heyy anon,, i totally didn’t type up a whole response to this ask and forget about it,, haha noo totally not and its definitely not the reason this has sat in my inbox for almost a month…

better late than never i suppose.

4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

From a brief look at the numbers, about 19. They’re definitely not all created equal though, some of them are a finished first draft and others are a few bullet points. There are three im really excited for, even if there’s a very significant chance they’ll go nowhere.

The first is my hannipio chess au, which ive been working on since June of last year. I really love this fic but a lot of the original writing i did for it was last summer, and since then I have a different opinion on Hannipio’s relationship and also what they’d be like in the modern day. The fic is a modern second punic war au told over various chess tournaments, specifically abt the rise of Scipio Africanus and how he eventually beats the WCC Hannibal Barca,, while the two fall in love. I do plan on publishing this one if I finish it.

The second is a very weird Antony/Brutus fic. I’ve been thinking about this fic for a really long time, probably since I first watched the play 6 years ago, but I started actually writing it last month. Its very, VERY specifically about the play Julius Caesar, as its a bunch of interconnected scenes from different productions I’ve watched. Brutus has gone missing and Antony’s looking for him, and in the process he travels through 6 different productions of the play + an interlude. I’m still debating if I’ll publish it once it’s done.

Lastly is a Vampires SMP fic where after hundreds of years, many of the Vsmp cast have died & ended up in Triple Hell, which is a train they’re forced to kill each other over and over in (the Harpy Express). Lots of fun to write, very crack fic, but also the happy ending in hell none of them deserve. I really said the only way canon bloodletting would get happy ending is if they had to spend eternity together on a train they’re forced to kill one another on. This one will either be published or blow up horribly in my face.

Idea!

Soldier's wish? To repair his friendship with Tavish. His magic is flight based- eagle-like wings, used creatively for aerial assaults. Soul gem is star shaped when 'worn', and has a star and wing motif in the filigree as a held object. His wish for a bond to be repaired grants him a latent ability to affect the ties of people around him, allowing him to bring his team together into a tighter unit.

Oh my goodness- I love this so, so much!! The Soldier's and Demoman's friendship is one of the best bits of TF2, and your suggestion is more than befitting in this AU ;0; I also brainstormed with a pal of mine on whether or not he'd already knows the ins and outs of the magical world thanks to him being Merasmus' roommate at one point.

His wish being tied to loyalty really brings to mind how he sees himself as a veteran amongst the team, especially with how he refers to the others around him as boys and how he's so proud of them when they successfully complete their missions. What better role would fit the idea of an "ascended" soldier than a general? :000

But, with Tavish's present knowledge of the Incubators' tricks, I wonder how all this is gonna play out in the long run- all we can hope is for all this to be in their favors....

Arran thinks Charlie is a wonderfully cheerful and lovely woman, always there to remind her of the joys of life and making her feel loved even on her worst days. Arran is hesitant about making their relationship public at first, because she’s nervous what people will say. Obviously, Charlie convinced her otherwise. Arran respects Charlie and would do anything for her.

I hc that they date/d for about a year and a half-two years and then broke up because of differences in personality. Mostly because Arran begins to feel stuck and starts to stray. Part of this comes because of the length of the mission, and extended periods of time without anything happening. She loves Charlie, but she’s desperate for something new. I think the break up would take a heavy toll on both of them (lots of crying) because almost all of their relationship had been so carefree and wonderful, up until the end, when it turns sour. Months later, Arran still maintains her respect and admiration for Charlie, but it becomes a bit harder for them to see each other.
