Anorice Odds and Ends
Landsknecht Armor: Light, flexible armor preferred by the provincial knights who patrolled Anorice in the city’s final days. It was not uncommon for the flighty nobility to hire on scores of these pikemen and musketeers to secure their withering assets- yet more common for the same mercenaries to be sent out in search of abandoned estates, still replete with potential plunder.
Dredging Lantern: A hooked polearm traditionally wielded by the gondoliers who patrolled the vast canals of Anorice. Fitted with a glass lantern on one end and a sharply curved hook on the other, tools such as these were crucial to parting the thick black sludge that often bubbled up to the canals out from the city’ s sewers.
Captain’s Hand-Cannon: A stubby firearm wielded by the self-appointed head of the Merchant Queen’s guard. Unlike the long muskets commonly equipped to the city’s footsoldiers, this is a custom piece with an ornately carved handle and a brutally heavy bore.
Dingy Garments: A maroon jacket typical of the academy diabolists. Grungy and spattered, this utilitarian coat is notable for its angular shoulders and leather vambraces. It is somewhat singed, as if the original owner had at some point received a surprise lesson that diabolatry’s ancestor was indeed pyromancy.
Tarnished Gauntlet: A lone gauntlet, found among the wreckage of Anorice’s last barricade against the Kingslayer Demon. It is made of a brilliant aurous metal, tarnished by the same blast that left a large hole in the middle of the hand. The fingers of the gauntlet end in sharp points, similarly discolored, but likely through different means.
