btw it's anosmia awareness day! be aware of: anosmic people
[PT: btw it's anosmia awareness day! be aware of: anosmic people /End PT]
I made some userboxes for the occasion
[ID: Four red userboxes with the smell disorder flag on them and white text with black outlines. The first says, "This user is anosmic. They can't smell." The second says, "This user can't smell." The third says, "This user is anosmic." The fourth says, "This user has anosmia." /End ID]
And some for other smell disorders too, under the cut!
my netflix shows me so many perfume ads it's really funny (i'm anosmic). at this point i can sniff out whether an ad is a perfume ad within the first three seconds.
definitely told someone i have amnesia instead of anosmia today and only just realized it…shit 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭
Bun-Berry #32 !
It's MY webcomic and I get to pick the character who shares my disability
The irony of me getting ads for scent subscription services
So this is an actual tweet I found.
Personally, I can’t believe this person is being serious. Like why would she rather post this on a public platform instead of telling our fellow anosmic friend in private that her hair smells singed?
This is a major problem.
I understand the tweeter seems to feel or believe they’ll hurt their coworkers feelings by telling them the truth and that’s totally valid. Many people feel awkward or don’t want to be the “bearer of bad news,” BUT if you can assist someone with a problem you clearly know they are unaware of...maybe you should help them?
What do you think about this tweet? If you can’t smell would you want someone to tell you your hair smells bad?
Or if you can smell would you tell your coworker the truth?
I’m anosmic in the way that people with glasses are blind. Yes, I can smell some things, but it’s either a very vague smell or a very specific smell. Otherwise I’m screwed. I’m still somewhat convinced that flowers having smells is fake.
