When literally any other popular game IP gets an indie spiritual successor based on it, fans of those IPs are all like "wow, I'm happy to see another game similar to this other game that I enjoy. I am excited to see what new ideas this indie game brings to that old formula".
When the same thing happens to Pokemon or Zelda, Pokemon and Zelda fans throw a temper tantrum, and sling the word "plagiarism" around without knowing what it even means.
Not even Sonic fans do that shit...
I don't even think it's a Nintendo fan thing either, cuz even Mario fans are pretty chill when Paper Mario or SMRPG gets a new indie successor.
It's always the Pokemon and Zelda people.
In fact, I'm pretty sure the only time Zelda fans were accepting of an indie adaptation was when Arzette came around.
Edit: Actually nevermind, Yu-Gi-Oh! fans do this too with any other card game that exists, ugh.

Another Crusade launches September 15
Gematsu Source
Turn-based RPG Another Crusade will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on September 15 for $19.99, publisher Limited Run Games and developer Dragon Vein Studios announced. Pre-orders are available now via Microsoft Store and Nintendo eShop, and wishlisting via PlayStation Store and Steam.
“Another Crusade is not simply another crusade, here we have an adventure which will stick in the hearts and minds of gamers for a very long time thanks to its unique graphical style, quirky characters and superb gameplay,” said Limited Run Games CEO Josh Fairhurst in a press release. “Be it long requested retro treasures or modern-day classics that appeal to the old school gamer in us all, Limited Run Games is about bringing memorable experiences to its fans and with Another Crusade we believe we’ve delivered just that. Dragon Vein Studios has created something wonderful, and we can’t wait for players to jump into battle.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Limited Run Games:
In Another Crusade, traditional turn-based RPG combat fuses with platforming and action-adventure elements, playing out in a 3D isometric world, dripping with character, quests, and comedy. With a cast of loveable characters, a hilarious script and adventure around every corner, Rai Reysend and his kooky companions are tasked with uncovering the secret of the cosmic barriers, mysteriously appearing after a vast meteor shower rained down upon the land. With a charming aesthetic replicating the look of 3D wooden puppets, it’s easy to dismiss Another Crusade as a gentle adventure, but don’t be fooled! Gamers will need to summon their RPG skills as they cast powerful magic via turn based combat, execute commands with precision timing and solve cunning puzzles to complete quests. With tons of secrets to explore and action for all ages, Another Crusade promises an epic adventure brimming with treasure and treachery!

This is gon' be a long post, yo. It's about Super Mario RPG (+ the remake) and Another Crusade. (with SGtWS being the bonus point, lol)
Now, I should probably say this:
I have not heard about Another Crusade until just a couple of days ago so I've known about this until AFTER I got super hyped about the SMRPG Remake. ^^; That said, I would like to talk about it in a fair standpoint. :0
I'm also going to bring up my own project, Seven Guidances to Wishful Safety, as an example of how I took inspiration from Super Mario RPG as well.
But yeah, let's get around to it. ^^
