Nintendo, Play Station, X-Box, PC or no games?
aHA AND THE SECRET IDENTITY OF QUESTION ANON IS REVEALED
PlayStation or Nintendo but I’m also an idiot and suck at games regardless of what console.
You’re a butt and I love you xx
The fun part of Adam’s mask is that when you write him in mundane AUs you can just write him as the asshole that wears sunglasses at night and in bars and lose absolutely nothing.

Another Mask - Pt 5
Oh ho ho, it has been a while. Finally part 5 is done and gosh has the story re-written itself from my original intentions, Seven just does not want to be pushed aside. L Part 4: Here
Ray wrapped you tightly in his magenta coat, lifting you from the cold earth. Your consciousness was waning, threatening to be lost forever, feeling ice set under your skin as you shivered violently. He held his palm gently against your forehead, gasping and quickening his step. Whilst his palm was so warm, you just felt so cold, as if the dampness of your clothes had seeped into every pore of your skin.
You went limp in his arms, his eyes widening. “Mc? MC! Oh god! Stay with me! Don’t leave me. Come back!” Ray broke out into a run, emerging onto the road, bolting towards the car, he had to get you warm soon or you were going to freeze to death.
The sound of gravel shifting behind him brought his rapid steps to a halt. Ray drew you closer, trying to pass as much of his warmth to you as he could whilst he dealt with whoever dared interrupt him. He quickly changing his expression to one of disinterest before turning and staring straight into the desperate face of that red headed demon.
Seven just starred at your limp body in the arms of Saeran. Saeran!? He could only assume that Saeran was the hacker you had been speaking to, that this was “Ray”. He knew better than to call out to Saeran, no matter how much he wanted to. After what happened in his memories when he even attempted to speak that name, with the person he loved beyond reason, beyond all foreseeable logic contained in that his brother’s arms, he wouldn’t take any risks. He was shocked beyond belief, yes, but he was relieved that he had found both of you again. He had never seen Saeran like this before… the leather jacket was gone, replaced with a Magenta coat and soft frills. What was going on?!
A maniacal smirk appeared on Ray’s face as he took in Seven’s disheveled appearance. A face that did not match his appearance. V had mentioned to Seven once before that there was another side to Saeran that seemed angelic that he should be watchful of, but he had seen that before, met Unknown… this was completely different side of Saeran. V had said that the hacker at Mint Eye walked the halls with believers slinking away in his presence because if he was Ray he could switch so much faster to Unknown and do unforeseeable damage. That gaze he wore now said it all.
Seven felt his agent side kick into gear at sensing a threat. Knowing how violent Saeran had been… no, currently still is under Rika’s “care”. Even if it were from his own brother, at this moment his priority was to keep you safe… even if… he felt regret wave through his body, even if it were from Saeran.
He drew his bewildered eyes from Saeran, back down to your form, you were limp in his arms, he was holding you rather close, his fingers digging into your skin. Saeran’s smirk only got wider, making sure to turn around completely to display MC wrapped in his coat, held firmly in his arms. It was a matter of power, of showing the bastard of a sibling that she was his.
Seven’s head pounded as he took a step forward as so many emotions pummeled through him. Stress. Relief. Worry. Concern. Anger. Rage. Jealousy? He knew that he would risk everything he had if it gave his brother just a second of happiness yet seeing MC in his arms his faith in his own selflessness was shattered. He wouldn’t give her up, he couldn’t. He knew how much his brother had suffered, how tortured his existence was but if he admitted the truth, even just a small part of it, he had suffered too. Those who he had trusted betrayed him. He lived in constant fear. He gave his life away to an agency that would sooner have him killed that watch him make a single mistake.
He had seen the RFA fall apart, he had felt his brother’s hands around his neck wanting to end his life, seen the hatred in his eyes. The only thing that had sustained him was the naïve thought that his brother, that Saeran was happy and yet even that came crumbling down. And just when he thought he had been forgiven for his sins with MC and Saeran safe in his care, they were taken away from him and he was thrown back into a repeated nightmare where he had to wear the nice guy, ignorant mask to the man who didn’t even have the courage to tell him his deranged partner had started a cult that was torturing his brother.
His hands balled into fists at his sides, to stop his fingers from twitching. One piece of happiness. He deserved something! Some sort of happiness in his bleak existence apart from the fact that you were both alive. He wouldn’t give you over so easily. He wanted to rip you right out of Saeran’s arms, to hold you against him, he wanted you to stop looking so limp and helpless, he wanted you to stop looking like you were dead. His mind and body were red with rage but his voice came out almost as a whisper, “Mc. Is she-?” He was cut off sharply, “That is none of your concern. She is mine and I will see to it whether she lives or dies.” How those words burned into his mind. “You may leave now if you have nothing left to say. Or you may remain there and die in this cold. I don’t mind either way as long as you leave my sight.” Seven remained standing in place, his mind numb, there was too much to take in.
“Oh, too slow. Believers, seize him!” He put up no fight as they grabbed onto his arms and legs, handcuffing him. He refused to look away from you, praying that you would give him a sign, something for him to tether his hope to as they dragged him away. He felt Saeran’s eyes boring into him until he could see no more as a blindfold was placed over his eyes, leaving him completely in the dark.
Another Mask - Part 4
Part 3: Here Part 5: Here
Seven had assumed with his calmest mind that the world hadn’t just turned to shit, that you were still sleeping gently in his previous, now your current bed. He had only looked down for what had seemed like a few minutes, yet hours had flown past. It was only supposed to be a short break to restore his energy supply, if you were still awake when he walked in, he was desperate to tease you a teeny tiny bit like he had used to, hoping you’d just brush it off as a dream in the morning. If you were asleep though… he blushed as he imagined sitting beside you, stroking his fingers through your hair, leaving kisses against your forehead… it wasn’t supposed to turn out like this!
He heard his heart beat echo through his ears as he felt the sinking weight of dread. There were too many possibilities in his head as he ran through them with not enough good outcomes. Where is she?! His hands started to shake, a nervous tick that always surfaced when something was wrong. When something involving you went wrong. As he walked into the room looking around blindly, he couldn’t help the fleeting memory tug at the back of his mind, not now, not now, but the memory would not waver in his mind, drawing him down into the sea of his past and away from the terror of the present. I love you. She said looking right into his eyes, seeing him through the dark, her voice soft as she reached out and placed a hand against his cheek, the other holding her phone closely to her ear. He felt like a balloon, so light filled with her words, her affection, her undying love that threatened his balloon-like existence, if she uttered one more caring word he would explode. He couldn’t resist picking her up in the darkness, to hold her close to him, no matter how the danger of him falling over increased tenfold. She rested her head against his chest, giggling softly as he walked into the room and laid her down gently on the mattress. The comforting feeling of the mattress dipping under his weight beckoned him as he settled close beside her, his arm protectively wrapping around her as she nuzzled into him. Nothing was said as he lay there with her in his arms, her fingers splayed over his heart, his own gently stroking her hair.
As he reached the bed, the empty sheets snapped him back into consciousness. Shit. Shit, shit, shit, shit, SHIT! His mind raced, all the warning signs had been there but he didn’t listen. You always used to push him to value himself more and yet, you were now the one throwing yourself into harm’s way without letting him in, without relying on him to protect you. It’s happening all over again!
He scrambled to his laptop to trace your phone, only to find it had gone dead 20 minutes ago after sending a message through the app. The message was encrypted and he knew that wasn’t of your doing. Whatever that message was, no matter what it was, the timing was uncanny, you’d sent it to the hacker, you’d sent it to this Ray and then your phone had gone dead.
His blood boiled in his veins, throwing his laptop under his arm he ran outside and threw himself into the driver’s seat of his car. ‘Not again, never again am I letting her go’ he said with a shaky breath before slamming his down foot on the acceleration and speeding down the driveway into the early dawn.
You were still freezing as the ground around you began to lighten with a faint golden hue of the morning. You felt tired, not daring to move too far you had used almost all of your strength to prop yourself up against a tree stump which was now seeming like a reasonably comfortable living arrangement where you would spend the rest of your life with little animals bringing you berries and nuts… heh. Who were you kidding. That fake sense of assurance faded away almost as quickly as you had thought of it at the reality of your situation, maybe you were becoming delirious?
Everything ached, not only your body but your heart, the guilt and pain merging with the reality that he may not have gotten your message. Or worse yet, ignore it completely. You pictured the image of his white hair, so bright in the darkness as you had typed in the message. You had only sent a two-worded plea, simple, so simple and clear. ‘Help me.’ praying that he still had it in his heart to save you, that you had not betrayed all of his fragile trust. ‘Ray… Please…’ you whisper in a strained voice, even though no one would even hear you. ‘I need you here… Please Ray… I’m scared… I’m scared that I will die here and never see you again’, tears began to fill your vision but you would not let them fall, your head becoming light as the delirium set in again.
You tense up as you hear multiple branches snap around you, almost simultaneously too many to be real, maybe only one sound amplified by your delirious state, amplified by your fear. Your body trembles as the branches snap again, their pace fast as they head towards you. You quiver and shake, taking a hefty stick in your hands as a form of defense from whoever was coming your way. You pleaded with all your heart that it would be Ray but as a hooded figure stepped out in front of you screamed and swung.
The hooded figure didn’t seem too badly affected, stumbling back only slightly to regain their step. They stepped forwards toward you again as you continued to scream waving the stick wildly keeping them at a safe distance. Amidst your languished screams you heard a familiar voice yell out. ‘Stop! Get away! Don’t you dare touch her! She’s mine!’ The hooded figure withdrew bowing his head as a familiar hue of magenta appeared standing beside you.
You look towards the hazy figure… towards Ray. He was on his knees beside you in an instant, prying the stick from your shaking hands and throwing it away. You could see him wince as he looked over your body, you were a mess. Your clothes torn and disheviled, cuts and bruises covering your exposed skin. His gaze hovering on your ankle before he returned to look at you with a broken smile. Your heart wrenched at the sight, there were tears in his eyes threatening to spill as he brought a trembling hand to your cheek, the warmth of his palm a welcomed comfort.
‘MC… Your cold!’ He quickly shifts, pulling off his coat and placing it over you. He takes your hands in his, tracing gently over the closed cuts across them as he avoids looking you in the eye. ‘MC… I… I’m sorry… I’m sorry I didn’t get here sooner…’ You try to reply but your throat is dry, you look at him and feel the tears that you had held back finally fall freely from your eyes.
Another Mask - Part 3
I’m late but i’m back with another chapter. I’ve fallen into the Ray trap and was needing some release so I finally got around to getting this part done with a relatively good idea of where the story could go from here. Enjoy, L. Part 2: Here Part 3: Here
It was late when you left. With Vanderwood out gathering supplies, V asleep again and Seven lost in the binary world until morning, you took the opportune moment to sneak away. You had grabbed what limited supplies you could from the kitchen, so little that not even the analytical mind of Seven would realize anything was missing. Your plan was simple, follow the road until the off-road turnoff, go due north until the small daffodil buds were growing along the side of the road, then make a sharp turn west. The house Seven had procured wasn’t hopelessly far from Mint Eye, but regardless it was going to be a long night’s walk.
It was cold as you reached the end of the steep driveway, who knew a driveway that long could exist! No wonder Seven chose the location. No one would ever think someone lived here. The dark flat road that opened out in front of you was a welcome relief after the driveway, even when it brought a chilling wind that wove its cool fingers through your hair, sending shivers down your spine. A jacket would have been nice, but you only had the clothes you were first brought to Mint Eye in anyway. Placing one foot in front of the other, wrapping your arms around yourself, your thoughts wander. The phantom sensation tingling across your shoulders as you recall the memory of Ray’s magenta coat, swept around you, his fingers lightly caressing your skin before he drew his hands away.
It was peacefully along the roadside. So peaceful that you found yourself lost in your thoughts, letting the bitter taste of guilt sink into your heart as you recalled who you were betraying. V and Seven… They had risked so much to get you out, to “save” you from whatever else was in Mint Eye that you didn’t know about, that you hadn’t seen. The guilt weighs on your further as you think about what Seven and V would think when they realise you had left, when they realise that you had gone back right to the place they had tried to save you from. They’d probably throw you in mental care unit if they caught you, listing you as suffering from Stockholm Syndrome… but you had to do it to see Ray, there wasn’t any other way you could have left. The wouldn’t have let you leave if they knew.
You look down and small yellow flowers stretch their heads towards the moonlight beside your feet. The faint chatter of the woods below you was the only sound audible as you stare at the buds, a sigh of relief flowing from you. Not long now. Turning your head upwards, you peer up at the nights sky in all its majesty, that familiar sense of sadness filling you as the sky opened its welcoming arms, adorning your vision with stars untainted by city lights.
Those stars were so radiant that you held up a hand towards them watching them appear between your fingers. Bewilderment and sadness churned through you as you took in the beauty before you, utterly consumed by it until you felt a sharp twang of pain run up your leg, setting your step off balance as the stars began to fall. They darted towards the ground faster and faster as you felt your body lighten, watching the stars merge with the daffodils as you fall backwards into the dark valley beside the roadside. Unable to scream as the world rushes around you, your body begins to tense, anticipating an impact. Branches and leaves slap against your body, scraping against your skin as you are thrown towards the earth.
Pain erupts as you land hardly against the damp leaves. You wheeze, adrenaline coursing throughout your body as shock sets in. You lie still, slowing your breath before you can even begin to breathe normally. You don’t dare take to sitting up straight away, instead moving your limbs one by one to check nothing was seriously damaged. You flex your fingers, your arms, turn your head left and right. Oh god… Everything hurts. You move your attention to your lower body, attempting to move your left ankle, you let out a screech. Your ankle was burning, you push yourself up as softy as you can, taking a daring look at your ankle. It didn’t feel broken but with the dark purple bruises welling up you couldn’t be so sure.
As you sat in the wet earth shivering, your previous resolve withering away with each minute you sat hopelessly in the dark, after everything that had happened over the past few days, the onslaught of emotion welled up inside you hit you like a bus. You were normally so strong, persevering through anything that was thrown at you but as you sat there cold and alone, now not so sure where you were anymore, that sense of helplessness sinking in. Maybe this was what Rika had meant by your darkness, that loss of hope that crept in in your darkest moments.
With no chance of getting out of the ditch on your own, you muster whatever courage remains in you and open the RFA app, the screen light like a beacon in the night. You scroll over the contacts until you settle on their faces.
If you called either of them what could they even do at this late hour. They would both be so tired and each would risk whatever standing they had against the other in that wasted time trying to find you. To call Seven, to even consider asking for his help after you had betrayed him, betrayed both of their trust. Yet to call Ray… it may be the same, especially when you had promised you so fervently that you would stay. Promised you wouldn’t leave. With so little battery left you only had one choice. And even after you had betrayed them both you pleaded that your message would reach him, that he would be able to understand its meaning and find you. You click send before the screen darkens and you are enveloped in darkness.
Another Mask - Part 2
I’m not coping... just finished day 10 of V route... my heart... my heart is broken. Why did that have to happen. You had a place with me, you weren’t alone! How the hell did anyone let that happen... and what happens when Seven finds out the truth... omg everything hurts...
On another note here is part two of Another Mask. Part 1: Here Part 3: Here
The scent was so similar. Ray had never let you get too close to him in fear that you would leave but that moment in the garden when he had given you jacket, when you had relished drowning in his scent, that floral scent of comfort, it was so similar… had Ray come for you? You had wanted to go back, more than anything to return to Ray but Mint Eye, the secrets that you knew had not been revealed to you of the truth of that place, that is what scared you the more than anything.
V was not next to you when you awoke. The darkness from outside dancing across the bed. You were in an entirely different room, still a blank canvas like the rest of the house. Nothing homely… it was like a display home that had never been lived in, emotionally empty. Was this really one of Seven’s homes? You had imagined his space to be decorated with something, anything… even a speck of those red and gold colours that he seemed to love so much. Yet it was bare and empty.
His jacket was thrown over a chair on the seat in the far corner. Sitting up in the bed you could see him curled over his computer in the next room. Had he even slept over the past couple of days? You knew he was stressed trying to keep up with Ray but surely, he could take a moment to rest. It was hard not to noticed the dark circles welling beneath his eyes. Had he been eating? You move quietly from the bed walking towards the kitchen. If he heard you he didn’t stir from staring at the lines of code on his computer screen.
You open the fridge. There wasn’t anything edible at all on the shelves, only the medication for V which had to be kept cold. You moved over to the cupboard, relief filling your heart when you find some cans of soup. They’re not yet expired so you pour one out into the two bowls you had set aside, placing them in the microwave for the recommended time. You couldn’t help but think over the ache in your heart at the events of the past couple of days… how had everything gone so wrong such a short time. It was like a band aid had been ripped off, taking the stitches with it, leaving everyone open and in raw pain.
The microwave binged behind you, halting your thoughts. You shook your head, pushing away the negative thoughts that would only cloud your judgement later. You had to stay strong, to hold what little hope remained together. Grabbing two spoons and the bowls, you place one besides Seven who surprisingly pauses to look up at you.
Slightly embarrassed you stammer, ‘It… It was the only thing I could find and I don’t remember the last time you ate… So, I thought I would get something for you… Ah but don’t feel bad, I was hungry too.’ You say holding up your bowl of food as the concern washes from his face.
‘You needn’t worry about me but thanks.’ He takes a spoonful of soup, sipping it down before returning his attention to the computer. At least he was eating, that was a weight of your mind. Sitting again beside V’s bed, you quietly consume the remainder of your dinner? Midnight snack? How long had it been since you last checked the time. You open your phone to see a series of messages from the Rika and one from Ray. Your heart jumps reading his name… 9pm the message arrived, you check the clock at the top of the RFA app 1am. You hoped by sheer luck that he would still be awake, that he wouldn’t think you were ignoring him. You open the message. It was one line but it made your heart tear in two.
‘I miss you so much. Please come back.’
What even could you write back… You had no idea even if Seven would let you return, you knew V wouldn’t, not after they had all risked so much to get you out of there. Your response was simple but not knowing whether it was true broke you even further.
‘I will try.’
Ray’s message left you in a state of dismay for the rest of the day that you hid behind a worried smile. You couldn’t look away from your phone for too long, praying that he got your message, that he would call. V had even opened his eyes in the late afternoon, but it was a momentary joy, he had smiled at you, holding tightly onto your hand but there was an overwhelming emptiness inside you that was eating you away every time you caught a glimpse of V’s mint coloured eyes.
You knew that you couldn’t escape easily, that you would be faced with the worst if they found out but you couldn’t leave Ray alone. They would probably label it as Stockholm Syndrome, returning to your abductor. You realized how unhealthy that type of situation could be so you had remained on your guard the whole time you were at Mint Eye but you weren’t ever mistreated when you were there, after knowing what was going on in the building beneath you, you realized how much Ray was trying to protect you from the dangerous reality of some of the believers within the building. You went to Mint Eye on your own free will, it was your decision, if you had truly wanted to Ray would have let you leave after you completed the game.
With V regaining consciousness you would have to leave tonight. Once V was back you knew he wouldn’t let you leave. It made you feel terrible that they had risked so much and you wouldn’t deny that Rika had unnerved you, but Ray. Ray was there alone, you knew deep down that if things went wrong Rika would leave him behind and he would have nothing left. Everything he did, he did for someone else. He was so lost and Rika’s treatment of his sorrow was only making it worse, making him unable to stand by himself. He could, if he really tried, you could see it, beneath all the layers of sorrow and regret. In those gentle moment when he cared for the flowers, when he handed you his coat, those moments of kindness, he was just being blinded to it. It would have to be tonight, before it was too late.
