Ash has a daughter with Korrina and it's a Riolu.
Welcome to TSN, Rosemary
CONFUSE RAY.
From Companions Chapter 7: Torrents and Trepidation! In a proper Gym Battle rematch with Misty, Ash faces some dizzying and paralyzing tactics. The Tomboyish Mermaid shows no mercy!
You mentioned you regretted not watching Bayleaf’s episodes before writing Repaved as you would’ve given her a larger role rather than sticking her mainly at the end.
I am a bit curious what made you decide to go ahead without watching Gens 2 and 3 in full before writing, particularly after you decided to do a full rewrite. Was it more lack of interest or not thinking it would change much? Is it just the Bayleaf episodes you regret not catching beforehand or Johto as a whole
I had no interest. I still can't even make myself watch through Johto now. Like, it has the occasional goodie, but it is Team Rocket bullshit filler central. It's exhausting. And yeah it's primarily a DP sequel with splashes of Indigo and game/manga homages, so it wasn't all that necessary, I think. I mostly regret that, but i also think things worked out fairly neatly, now that I worked in Bayleef's resolution in at the end.
I really wanted Ash and Dawn to give one another something before they parted, but I could never square what that would be. Dawn's role with resolving things between her and Ash ends up being a perfect bookend, both for the two of them, and Ash's self-actualization as a Pokémon Master.
One of the things I thought when I was reading Another road for the first time was that Ash and friends were going to take down Team rocket for good. I thought Convergence was going to be partially dedicated to that. So anyways, I was very much wrong about this but I’m also wondering, how exactly do they defeat TR in your AU?
Sorry for the disappointment haha. No, one of the big messages to come from mid-late Repaved is that defeating a deeply-ingrained mob with a couple of heroic fights isn't always an option, and it put Ash and Dawn in over their heads. They still did a lot of good! Nonetheless...
It happens nearly a decade after this, when Ash has been Indigo Champion for a couple of years, and has been fighting with the G-Men to finally uproot Team Rocket for good. With his waning influence in Tohjo, Giovanni turns his attention to the project of Rainbow Rocket. Old tattered notes about Mewtwo are found, and another one is cloned.
JJM are quietly in a mutiny at this point, once they realize The Boss will never see their vision of a Team Rocket that does "righteous evil." He's caught onto this, so he uses them to lure Ash and company to Alola by leaking intel. Ash helps wrangle Ulta Beasts there with Interpol, under Looker and Anabel, along with the TRio, Ash becomes an Ultra Guardian, etc. etc. it should be its own arc. But at any rate.
Ash, Gary, Lillie, Gladion, Moon, Looker, Anabel, and TRio all contribute to the fight against the evil team leaders. I know I want Lusamine to face Lysandre, to confront the ugliness that her obsession with beauty could have led to. But, I'm rambling again. Ash and Peeks fight Giovanni and his Mewtwo, but they're completely outmatched by Mega Mewtwo Y. The strain of the battle is so great that it cracks Peeks's Light Ball and shatters it. In a moment of desperation, they perform a miracle - Light Ball's power acts as a substitute Thunder Stone, evolving Peeks into Raichu. Because this is a "power of friendship" series, the initial evolution brings Raichu FAR beyond his normal limits, and they defeat Mewtwo. Giovanni flees, and Team Rocket falls apart, with their leadership gone. Their remnants are crushed over the next months.
The third Mewtwo ends up being caught by Elaine in Cerulean Cave, a la Let's Go/the animated episode addressing them.
Movie 1 Mewtwo finds Giovanni and ends him lmao
I just wanted to say, I’m really enjoying the Champion book from Another road so far.(I’m saying it here because I can’t comment on the actual thing).
First of all, I gotta say, Ash is doing way better than I expected. I thought he’d have only one Pokémon left at the end of each battle, but that wasn’t the case. Not complaining tho, it makes the battles less predictable and they still manage to have some tension.
Another thing, I was NOT expecting a legendary on the first elite four member! That defintely caught me by suprise.
And last but not least, Infernape my GOAT! So happy to see him beat a legendary.(Between this and the show I got into this summer releasing on the same day I read that part it was a really good day).
Anyways, that’s all I wanted to say for now, can’t wait for the next chapters.
Aah, thanks so much for commenting on it!!! A good review is worth its weight in writing. I appreciate you dropping in!
YES, the choice to not go down-to-the-wire for every battle was one I made while writing Repaved itself, earlier on. A lot of times in the original Another Road, I'd go through the trouble of getting Ash's other Pokémon knocked out, and... for what? If he's not going to lose anyway, literally what is the point of whittling his team down when he has the lead? He can swap. It makes him look like a smarter trainer.
I also wanted to display, in this case, just how powerful and formidable Ash is, that he can come out with several Pokémon against Elite Four members, of all opponents, even while they push him to the limit. He's in a tier entirely of his own! It's exciting!
Hah! Yeah, I was excited to shock everyone with Articuno. That'd been planned as far back as Contemplation; that little sighting of Zapdos was meant to be an omen that the legendary birds would continue to play a story role, and there was a brief hint at Articuno watching Ash vs Blaine, after the battle ended! It was always the plan.
YESSS Infernape deserves it. I'm still sad he doesn't have a canon legend win aha. What a waste. But that's what I'm here for! AR existed out of spite for canon at first after all lmao, even if it's become so much more! I'm glad you're enjoying Champion, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the Champion's League and beyond!
Just reread Ash vs Lance I on my morning walk and holy
I cooked.
Having Ash flip his hat, say "the Aura is with me!", and blasting Cha La Head Cha La had to be one of the most hype moments of ARR though
Three different forms of "yeah his opponent is fucked" at once.
