I like to think that, once Ash and Peeks become World Champions, Peeks just loses all incentive to stay unevolved to prove a point. Hell, the dude is more-or-less 30 years old when it happens. That old spry attitude of his feels juvenile to him at this point, actually.

So, with nothing left to disprove, he just chooses to evolve. Being a large Raichu suits his more comfortable, cocky, hammy personality that he takes on as a proper adult. He's still the same sweetie we all know and love, though; just at a different stage in his life! Anyway, have the besties of all time!
