A Trip to Luxembourg Day 2/2 🇱🇺 III. What else to say? 1. I wish had planned 3 days instead of just two including arrival and departure, 2. I enjoyed driving through towns and villages! You can see lots of stuff while you're on a country road including lots of cows, sheep and horses 3. If you're German, most of the town names sound funny (Bous, Kockelscheuer, Pommerloch), 4. I wouldn't say that the cashiers in Luxembourg city I met were rude but they were far from being friendly. It baffled me (as a German) because Germans are often told that they are cold, distant and deserved if they don't know you yet, 5. Speaking of the capital city, I HATED driving around Luxembourg City. So many construction sites! The receptionist at my hotel (who was BTW very nice and helpful) told me that the reason is that they are about to expand the tramway system in the old city till 2021, 6. German isn't spoken that often. When I was walking through the old city, I heard many folks talk in Luxembourgish, French and English. German was rather as I experienced, the 4th most spoken language and they also have a minority group of Portuguese people. But: lots of their signs (in the street or in front of stores) are written solely in French or German. They are seldom bilingual. But I guess that many locals can actually speak at least three or four languages. 7. Not many hipsters but lots of well-dressed pedestrians on the street of Luxembourg City! Their style is either down-to-earth/casual, formal in a business kind of way (large financial sector in the city) or conservative (not in a bad way). 8.
