I was tagged by the lovely some-thrilling-heroics​ to do this some time ago. I am so sorry that I forgot to post this! Please forgive me.

Right, off we go then!

1. Do you like to cook / bake?

Now that I’m not forced to cook every day, I’ve been able to return to my previous love of cooking rather than see it as yet another chore. I do like a challenge, and seek to do things from scratch whenever I can; and am up to it (health-wise).

2. Do you have any tattoos?

No, none whatsoever, and have no intention of getting any. That would imply that I’d want to show off that part of my body…. Not a happy thought  *shudders*

3. Any pets?

Sadly no, but I’d love to have a dog again. Or even a budgie (aka parakeet), as I miss having them as a pet.

4. Favourite ice cream flavour?

I love almost every flavour of ice cream; except for tutti fruitti. Eugh! Please don’t give me that one. Given free choice, I’m more likely to choose strawberry, chocolate, mint, or a nice lemon sorbet.

5. What do think love is?

Oh my, this one is deep! Love has many guises despite being abstract, and is an expression of caring without selfishness or intention. You just want good things for whatever or whoever you love. In its ideal form it is completely altruistic.

6. Outside with friends or rather inside with a book?

Yes please! Oh you mean I have to choose? Erm. Most of the time I’d rather be inside with a book, but once I’m outside the house I want to stay there and make the most of it.

7. What languages do you speak?

I’m rather pathetic in this respect. I did French at school, and that’s as far as it goes, because I can count the times I’ve had to use it on the fingers of one hand. Other countries are just too clever at using English, I’m afraid.

8. Do you like musicals and if so, what’s your favourite?

I do; and my favourite is Calamity Jane, although Seven Brides For Seven Brothers runs a close second (apparently I have a thing for Howard Keel). I quite fancy watching a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers film now…. As you can tell, I really love the old ones.

9. Hands or eyes?

For what exactly? I’m confused.

10. When was the last time you laughed?

About half an hour ago when I read a comment someone had left on a story of mine. I do quite a lot of laughing during the day, come to think of it; and often entice people to laugh with me.

11. Are you patient?

I think I am, but hubby would say otherwise. Little does he know…! I’ll admit that I get very impatient with technology that is supposed to work to make life easier (hence him saying I’m not because he often hears me grumbling at my computer or my phone), but other than that I’m very “chill about things” – that’s the right terminology, isn’t it? At other times hubby says I’m so laid back about things that he expects me to fall over at any moment. ;)

Trick or treat

send me a trick or treat (ship and prompt are optional) and I’ll write you a drabble.

"We got them," Skye crows happily, walking into the lab clutching a pumpkin to her chest. Behind her, Coulson walks up the ramp juggling two pumpkins and behind him, May and Grant are carrying the last three. May is smiling ever so slightly and Grant looks a bit nauseous.

"What’s going on?" Jemma asks.

"We’re going to carve pumpkins." Skye proclaims as she drops the pumpkin on one of the lab tables.

"Not on the table," Fitz jumps foward to pick it up.

"Fine," Skye rolls her eyes. "Upstairs, whatever. But we are doing this."

Fitz looks like he’s going to argue, and Jemma assumes that since May and Grant aren’t saying anything, Fitz is unlikely to win the argument either, so she grabs the pumpkin from his hands and heads upstairs with Grant and May trailing behind her.

By the time Fitz and Skye join her, they are all huddled around Skye’s computer trying to decide what they want to carve.

May decides on an artful arrangement of bats that looks incredibly difficult.

Fitz gets excited when there’s a Tardis template, and claims it for himself.

Skye picks out a cute ghost cutout, which Grant claims doesn’t look very scary, to which Skye has a horrible retort about how any pumpkin couldn’t look very scary compared to Grant’s face.

Grant eventually (after much complaint) decides on a classic pumpkin face. And Jemma who doesn’t have a clue what to pick quietly asks him if she can help him.

He looks taken aback for a moment.

"I’m not quiet sure how to do this exactly." She says eying Coulson who is elbow deep in pumpkin innards and seeds.

Grant offers her a quick nod, and thankfully doesn’t say anything else. He does most of the work and explains in low tones what he’s doing as he does. He cuts the top open and begins to scoop out all the mush and seeds. Then he sticks on the template and begins to carve out the face while Jemma watches.

They’re done first, which Skye claims is simply because it was two people working on one pumpkin.

In the end, they have a contest, and their pumpkin wins best effort.

(May’s wins best design, Fitz takes best craftmanship, Skye gives herself cutest pumpkin, and Coulson wins best overall.)

They never carve pumpkins again as a group, but it becomes a thing for Grant and Jemma. Every year they spend a day picking out a pumpkin and then carve it together (which ends up being Grant carving whatever they choose and Jemma watches). It’s their first tradition.
