Weird biology things about Salem the Sea King (I dunno much about biology but I'm learning):
-He has scleratic rings in his eyes, he is a fish troll after all and the bone helps avoid pressure deforming his eyes in the various ocean zones and on land
-He has three lungs, two in the normal spot of a human's and one tucked behind them against the spine, this third lung holds water when he's out of the ocean and is a bit larger than the other two
-Sal has three sets of gills, one set is on his neck, the second is on his ribs and chest, the third set is on his back, given his size and the time he spends beneath water it's how his body handles the need for oxygen
-Sal has retracting "wings", that's why his gills don't filly span from his front to his back, his webbing connects to his arms and will stretch tight when the wings 'erupt'
-Sal has a bisected jaw, similar to a snake's, while he can chew prey often times the fish are smaller than him so he swallows them instead as it also conserves energy, the jaw is a means of fitting some larger prey down without biting and is also a bit of a defense mechanism from challengers
-because he moves between land and water I imagine he's got thicker skin that usual and hides a layer of fat as well, deals with cold temperatures and fluctuations in pressure
-When Sal was born he looked more akin to a salamander, and went through a phase a metamorphosis to become the troll we know today, also yes that means when he and Jackie start a family they'll have big salamanders for kids at first, the sea trolls affectionately call their kids newts for a reason
-Sal can speak whale, he's got weird vocal cords, possibly two sets, that produce different levels and variations of sounds
-Sal can sing through his gills and mouth at the same time, a unique method of singing among sea trolls
