the world building of stranger things in my opinion has gotten weaker and weaker as the seasons progressed. Starting with the demogorgan being this beast accidentally let into our world, tracking people by blood, taking kids in the night, with the terrifying mindlessness of a great white shark was so damn fun! And then we get to season 4 and a big ‘reveal’ that actually it was…some random guy from the 50s all along. who’s dad was mean to him so now he’s out for psychic revenge by killing unrelated townsfolk 30 years later. What. The demogorgan needed to be hunted, trapped, outsmarted, lit on fire, and it could still escape to lick its wounds. But to be safe from vecna you just need to…listen to your uwu favourite song and think happy thoughts, or else a bell will chime and he’ll make you levitate as you fall into despair in his mind palace muahahaha. The decision to go from alien-esque world logic to Freddy Krueger logic is so weird to me, and i find it far less compelling
