I have a little Anthea headcanon that I’ve shared with a buddy on discord below the cut because idk why not!
So Thea and Hades had a falling out by the time talks of the third sacrifice were in full swing. He wanted them there with him, at that point they really only had each other. There was technically an opening on the Convocation that wasn’t Azem and while Thea wasn’t considered prior he felt it easy enough to keep them close that way. He offers and by then Anthea had already started to try and see how to move on, to accept Hyth’s death and sacrifice, as much as they wanted him back they knew it was only right to move forward. This caused a fight and words to be said that hurt the other and Anthea turning to Venat and her group hoping to find someway to stop the third sacrifice so those that did so in the beginning could have their wishes respected.
During the events in Elpis the group put together just who the Watcher was and the entire time Venat had hoped that they were wrong or if there had to be a watcher it would be someone else because she remembered the look on his face when he came to the realization that they spent 13,000 years alone and how hurt they must have felt because he always always promised them that he would never abandon Anthea his beloved. So Venat was ready to give Anthea the job because Anthea was determined to do something and was ready to throw themselves into making Hydaelyn which would have caused their existence to cease, a fate that was worse. So they were granted the title of the Watcher and the Shepherd.
When it came down to it Venat knew that the other person she had as the Watcher would be left with much less power than was needed to maintain the main prison for Zodiark so she decided on the Source’s moon there would be two. One to be split into 14 while the other would stay whole and give their strength when it was needed most. After that she also told Anthea that they would help in watching the souls left within Zodiark and if any were lost they were to lead them onto the sea.
So with that background Anthea would see Hades on the moon and he would see them, and so badly did they want to talk to one another. They both wanted their friend back, but Anthea wasn’t ready to talk to him and still felt hurt over what was said. Yet that didn’t stop Anthea from trying to find comfort in the way things were now and then. They still had their creation magics and so one day they decided to make a radio and have it play all the songs they could remember, all the ones that were their favorites, and ones that they heard play in Hades’ office when they would just sit quietly and spend time with him. They would bring it out to the little like porch area and sit and listen and look out over the moon, just be content.
Well one day Hades is looking out and probably sulking not to far from the tower when he hears one of his favorite pieces of music from Amaurot. It’s not exactly in tune and the tempo is just a little off but it’s that same song. So he listens and listens and finds a lot of songs the same way, as if they were recreated via a memory. So he goes closer and finds Anthea sitting and listening now in their shade form and he still misses them, he wants to be able to speak with them again, he still cares about them deeply, and he doesn’t want to feel so alone anymore since Elidibus and Lahabrea at this point aren’t themselves, or starting to get that way. This is the one person that will know exactly how he feels and he can’t talk to them. So he does one of the only things he can do to try and subtly bridge the distance and show that he still cares.
He takes a moment, gathers all the memories he has of the music, which are perfect, adds a few others he knows and remembers, and snaps his fingers. There’s a moment of static and it cuts out and sounds like as if someone is turning the dial. When it finally stops and the music starts to play again it’s one of the songs that he always played at least once when they would sit in his office with him and in that moment Anthea knows who it was and what it means. They still don’t seek him out and talk to him and if you asked him he’d say it was because if he was going to hear that radio the music might as well be correct. But for a little moment they are friends again. That radio is still on the moon sitting in the tower with the Watcher who was split into 14.
