Mayncient Day 1: Introduction
Anthea, Creationist of Elpis // Constantinos, Assistant to Emet-Selch Deimos, Word of Lahabrea // Iris, Creation Follow Up
lore below the cut
Heyy I found your blog and already absolutely love it! Could you please write some headcanons for daughter of Hecate x Deimos having a romantic fling?
(do I have issues if I want to have a romantic fling with god of teror? Absolutely)
this is only the second request that actually required research lol tysm i'm so glad you're enjoying my blog!!
he's a minor character but i can do my best! (hun we all have issues have you seen the amount of smut i've written)
----------------------------------
i doubt deimos could have anything other than a fling tbh
he just seems like the kind that would be intimidating as fuck and not many people could deal with that
he becomes interested in you when you catch him beginning to rile up a mob and immediately try to fight him
cute
truly believes you could never defeat him, but admires your moxy anyway
lets the mob go and steals you away to somewhere more private
unlike his brother, he can't necessarily terrify a single person, he does crowds better
Deimos' opinion on Hermes?
These two didn't interact as much as you would think. Had Deimos never become Azem they would have since his goal was to take up a role in Pandaemonium (the boy loves his monsters idk what to tell you just look at prototype carbie), so they would have had more time to interact.
On a shallow surface level it is very unfair that Hermes is so tall and he is so short and it makes it feel like he's being talked down to even though that is far from what's happening, he's got a bit of a complex. Take that away though and he thinks the man has done amazing work in his creations and always is impressed with how he pushes the limits, and as Hyth said so very exacting in his work. Deimos though is also someone that sees the value of every creation like Hermes and found a lot of inspiration in Meteion's creation and would have asked if not for well all that happened. Like there's an admiration there that Deimos can't quite articulate without coming on too strong.
On a deeper level he finds Hermes to be like Anthea in the way they see and feel the world around them and its hard for him to relate to that since Hermes is the version of Anthea he never met since by that point Hyth was having an influence on them. He can relate to the outcast part and did try to make him feel included in things and that he wasn't alone but Deimos' experiences are just to different from Hermes that it didn't have the same effect. Deimos looks to the future with the past being of little regard at times ignoring the consequences of them until it catches up with him, vs Hermes that seems to be stuck more in the past and drowning it making it hard to even be present.
I do think they could have gotten along really well but it was a missed opportunity and quite saddening. Deimos can just overall be a lot to people and not everyone's cup of tea in Ancient society even if there's a lot there that can be discussed. I will say that things could have turned out differently had the two hung out or went on a few romps throughout the world, there's something about being out there that would calm Deimos enough to interact with Hermes in a meaningful way, it just never happened with an avoidance from the two of them occurring that was unconscious.
For swap chat qotd
Siberite had an older brother named Palladium who she almost was convinced never existed had Khutula not been there to confirm he was someone that lived and was her brother. Palladium was almost 20 years older than Sib and had plans on bringing Sib with him to Old Sharlayan for 9 months out of the year not only for her education but to thrive like he was never able to living with their parents. He wanted better for her, but sadly never got the chance as he was fulfilling their mother's requirements (getting some field research finished in the Steppe) when he was conscripted into the Garlean Army where he was first sent to teach Hein but then frontlines after he stood up to one of the guards for someone else and it was shown that he was not partaking in teaching their propaganda, he would die a few years after. However Sib's father lied about what happened and in his grief and guilt wanted no one to speak of him and anytime Sib (who was 6 at the time) asked she was told she just made him up and never existed. Had Palladium's partner Khutula not been there she would have forgotten him. The two of them had a very great relationship, she adored him so much, and would look forward to the days he visited and he cared for her so so much, he truly wanted nothing more than to be the best older brother for her (even before Hydaelyn spoke to him). He's watched over her from the aetherial sea and hitched a ride ghost style to ultima thule where she would see him and he would help her once more.
Deimos and Emet while technically cousins consider each other brothers as they grew up really close to one another. Emet is the one that really understands Deimos more than anyone else even though he finds him annoying at times but hey that's how little brothers are sometimes. Emet looked out for him fiercely once he skipped grades and was in his classes where many times the other kids would speak about him behind his back or teachers were ready to dismiss Deimos because he just couldn't sit still and had a blase attitude about everything. This continued well into their adult years because Emet just knew how he was despite the outward personality, this wasn't to say Emet wasn't a bit harsh at times (he most certainly was) be he did so because he cared and knew the potential he had. Deimos is also just as fierce in looking out for Emet because of his personality, to an extent where even before truly in the Azem position Deimos stood in front of the convocation and burned a list of other potential Emet-Selch candidates so Hades had a fair shot (it wasn't the only list like he thought and if he looked Hades was listed 3rd). However the two had a little bit of a falling out before the Elpis events in EW wherein Emet found out about the stunt and went no contact for awhile because he was just done cleaning up messes and frankly at that point in time Deimos should have known better, which Deimos did need to grow up a bit but it still hurt him like no other to lose his brother. They did make up and had a better relationship until the final days. But yeah they're both loyal, protective, and want the best for the other.
Looking into the gods Deimos and Phobos (which sadly Phobos is not around long enough to ever determine a name for themselves so I have made the executive decision to name them Phobos permanently) and like its interesting in a way that I mostly picked the name Deimos because of some more funny things and a poignant moment in ShB only to like really think about it now with the legends and mythology behind it. (ramblings and spoilers below the cut)
Deimos is said to be the personification of the dread and terror of a battle to come while Phobos was the personification of panic and fear in the midst of battle, but applying this to how in the Final Days the two must be the opposite and over come the feelings of dread, terror, fear, and panic in a war with the star itself. Like there's something that happened there in a weird way without me really knowing because I just wanted to make a bit of a joke but using their names is extra fitting. Just this idea too of Phobos being a product of Deimos not wanting to give into the fear and panic of not helping as many people as possible, and in the end Phobos doesn't give into the panic he was created from essentially and he doesn't run from the fights he goes in head first. Deimos though never feels any kind of dread or terror by what he's faced with, he knows he can handle it and you see if he can't, he's the front lines and he's on a mission to find a way to stop this calamity from continuing on or happening again, never once gives into the dread of not being able to.
Then you have the idea once more of Deimos feeling fear and panic which led to him creating Phobos, but on the flips side Phobos feels a dread when they make it back to Amaurot and they find evidence to point to Anthea and Hades having a falling out after Hyth's sacrifice and for it to get worse as Phobos wonders just how is Hades going to react to seeing a version of his little brother after their fight despite the letters he'd written, and to end it with a dread of knowing they were too late to make any major change because the sundering happens just as they find Hades and convocation members. Like dread and a bit of terror at not knowing what's going to happen with the sundering just make them take action and getting three people that they know to important to Deimos to safety which leads into the rest of the story.
and rambling brain going into how Demos is the reincarnation of Deimos and feeling panic with Haurchefaunt and therefore not being able to do anything to heal the man (there was nothing that could have been done even if he didn't) and that follows him but he uses that and finds another way to help and protect those he cares about. Sib meanwhile is the reincarnation of Phobos and dread follows her with each loss and weighs her down because she doesn't want to lose anyone else, but its what gives her the ability to take action in a moment's notice. Like these things never left them and they found ways to overcome them or work with them which says so much honestly. Like all this just kind of scratches the brain in a way I can't stop thinking about now.
