i wanna make a longer and more articulate post about it eventually, but just like, i love how alison treats the ghosts. like yeah, they're annoying as fuck, and she has the patience of a literal saint, but i adore that no matter how irritating and weird they are, she treats them as humans, beings with their own experiences and memories, and respects that they're important to them, even if their lives are in the past. i loved it that she actually stayed and talked with mary about how swans are just swans nowadays, despite the fact that she was in the middle of something when mary called her out. i love that she gave cap the benefit of the doubt when he protested to her and mike digging up the garden, and went out of her way to dig somewhere else instead even with minimal explanation from him because she could see that it meant a lot to him. i love that she made the effort to talk with pat's family and learn about them, despite his continuous pestering and literal murder request. because she loves them, all of them, and therefore she empathises, and she shows them understanding and patience, and she listens to them, even when she arguably shouldn't due to the sheer irritation that they are. she takes care of them, because they're family, and she cares about them as much as they do her, although they don't show it as well or much. even kitty's comment about how alison taught her the rainbow mnemonic when she kept forgetting the colours of the rainbow stuck in my mind because like wow, she really cares for them. she puts in as much effort and love into her friendships with them as she'd do with her alive friends. they all mean so much to each other and it makes me want to cry in the best way possible.
