Zippy's new friend does not look like he'll be a good influence on him - he really doesn’t need an excuse to pick up any more bad habits!

He doesn't like Willoughby's sister Anna though. But to be honest, he's not a big fan of Sims in general. 😕

Dorian also has a new pal, in Philippa.

And Annemarie is getting to know Augustus - big brother of her good friend Anthony - although how she feels about him remains to be seen. So far, the only Sim outside his family (and even some of them don't like him) who doesn't find him objectionable is his Townie girlfriend Brittany!

With Margaret's credibility within the scientific community in tatters, and her employability at zero, Willoughby has had to become the breadwinner in the family, and has found himself a job as a paramedic.

Meanwhile, financial independence beckons for Annemarie!

If her other new acquaintance Emma - from her new high school - thinks that Annemarie looks faintly ridiculous, she's far too polite to say.

Anyway, who cares, as long as it's lucrative!

And look who's unexpectedly expecting again!

And starving hungry in the middle of the night.

There's something reassuring about having a paramedic in the house, when she goes into labour.

It's another boy!

Welcome to Merybury, Josiah! Despite having a tiny house, Willoughby had been quietly hoping to become a father again - just once more - even if Margaret will be the stay-at-home parent this time, rather than him.

The Wentworth Family Album: Volume XV

Once a sailor always a sailor. Frederick might be slowing down now, but he still loves to recount tales of his thrilling adventures on the high seas - hunting for treasure - to a rapt audience.

Who would have thought that unassuming Valentine had such a burning talent?

He must get it from his parents.

Frederica soon follows in her older brother's footsteps. (Although not literally, as she's not much of a dancer herself.)

What a birthday present! Anne is really not convinced that it's her time to go.

Having also recently lost his grandmother, Anthony comes over to condole with his best friend.

Although they spend much of the visit planning what to do with their respective inheritances!

Meh! Frederica doesn't know what her brother sees in his - to her mind - superficial friend, but maybe that's because he's Flirty and fun-loving, while she most definitely isn't.

At least the youngsters still have their grandfather around.

Oh dear - it seems I spoke too soon! (And he didn't even get time to finish fixing the sink.)

Frederica is the most affected by the loss, as she was particularly close to her granddad.

Goodbye, Frederick and Anne! Together, you raised a happy and secure family, and offered friendship to many. My first-generation Sims are fast becoming rather thin on the ground...

The Bertram Family Album: Volume X

It's a long while since we've visited the Bertrams, so let's see what they're up to.

We're just in time to catch a touching moment between father and son. Edmund found the news of the unexpected demise (aged only 60, in my game years) of his contemporary, George Knightley, to be rather sobering, but William tries to reassure his dad that he's going to be around for a good while longer yet.

Although the Bertrams aren’t really party people, it's pretty much open-house for friends and family to drop round whenever they like.

Theophilus in particular has quite a collection of chums, including Anthony,

...Giles,

...and his cousin Francesca.

William, being a caring, but Shy lad, prefers hanging out with childhood pal Boo,

...dancing self-consciously, even when he's alone,

...or immersing himself in his favourite culinary pursuits. He clearly still needs a bit of practice with a chopping knife though.

Doofus Boo also still has a lot to learn. After all these years, he still hasn't figured out that the sofa is not an acceptable place to pee.

He's so good-natured though that no one has the heart to be too hard on him, especially not Fanny.

The Wickham Family Album: Volume XX

Although Augustus isn't a natural, there's something about music that really speaks to him. (He only has 4 Serious/Playful points, but I haven't been able to prise him away from the keyboard since it first arrived in the house, and now he's obsessed with his MP3 player.)

Picking on his siblings is entirely innate, however. Isn't this getting old yet, Augustus?

Aww, leave Rebecca alone, she's just a kid!

Laura is the only one who seems to escape his bullying.

Later that day, someone has a date with Grim. And while Catherine and Anthony are oblivious (robots are far more interesting than skeletal apparitions), the salient point that George has challenged Death - and won - seems to have escaped Simon and Kitty.

Take that, Mr Reaper, George is going nowhere! He still has plenty of pleasure-seeking left in him.

The very next day, Kitty is not so fortunate, and it's time to say goodbye. Her grandsons are obviously very upset - she has stood in for their mother since they tragically lost her as babies.

Bizarrely, Catherine decides that this is the perfect moment to propose to Simon.

Really, Catherine, he's literally just lost his mum! Could your timing have been any less appropriate?

To make matters worse, George demonstrates even less respect for his dead wife's memory! That very evening, he invites over his long-term mistress, Marla.

Fond as they are of their granddad, this is too much for the kids. Except Augustus, who's much more interested in bashing out those tunes on the keyboard.

It seems a bit of family snowman building is in order, to take their minds off recent developments!

The Wickham Family Album: Volume XVIII

I don't think Augustus answers anyone's idea of a nice guy.

Even so, Townie Brittany Parker likes him enough to share a first kiss with him.

And a rather public make-out session in the living room.

Anthony's pal Phineas is not convinced about Brie's newly-discovered musical talents.

But how could anyone resist that face?!

Rebecca on the other hand, has discovered the joy of kittens.

And is much better at walking than using the potty.

Laura has found a playmate in half-brother Anthony.

And surprisingly, she even gets along OK with arch-meanie Augustus. Although I'm not sure about their topic of conversation - don't give him ideas, Laura!

There's a chance now for Anthony to start standing up for himself a bit more against his brother - it's his birthday!

The Wickham Family Album: Volume XVI

There are big changes happening over at the Wickham parental home too.

For a start, it's oldest boy Augustus's 13th birthday - although he's looking rather apprehensive about it.

There - now that wasn't so bad, was it? He becomes the first teen of my third generation. Dad Simon is looking mighty proud.

The family has also grown by four overnight, with Simon's girlfriend Catherine and their two young daughters - and cat - all moving in. Augustus gets acquainted with his baby half-sister, Rebecca: "you're not so bad, are you, squirt?"

And granddad George loves having more little ones around to spoil.

Although Laura is currently having more fun with the cat bowl than his stories.

Thanks to Augustus, Brie discovers that she has a burgeoning musical talent.

And she makes her own contribution to the household, with surprise kitten, Ricotta!

She's inherited her mother's virtuosity.

And mum is immensely proud of the prodigy she has produced.

The feline members of the family are of course popular with everyone. And they coordinate so well with the neutral tones of the décor.

But there's still very little brotherly love between Augustus and Anthony.

Although Mr Popularity Anthony is making yet another friend, in Carol. So I suspect the problem is with Augustus, and not him...

The Smith Family Album: Volume XII

When we last visited the family, Margaret had just experienced the Sim-world's largest ever belly pop!

Well, it's time for the new family member to make an appearance.

And here he is - welcome to Merybury, Dorian Smith!

He's a much-longed-for second child, so many years after their first.

But big sister Annemarie doesn't have much interest in the new arrival, and is more focused on thrashing school pal Janet on the games console.

No growling at the baby!

Frank comes over - to collect granddaughter Janet - and can't resist treating them all to an impromptu demonstration of his musical prowess. He's always been such a show-off.

He's also keen to provide constructive criticism of Margaret's skills - to be honest, he's not sure this one is going to be a big disco hit.

Dorian doesn't appear to have been too scarred from being on the receiving end of Zippy's Aggressive tendencies, and even ages up into a cute little dog-themed ensemble, just to prove there's no hard feelings.

Maybe with his affinity for dogs, Dorian can even be the one to tame Zippy?

Annemarie is academically Ambitious, and can't resist telling Edmund - her mum's senior colleague at the school where she teaches - all about her educational aspirations, when he joins them one evening for a family dinner.

Oh dear - Zippy still has anger management issues, it seems.

Dorian's musical sensibilities are clearly offended by his dad's piano playing (everyone's a critic).

He much prefers story time and peek-a-boo.

And Annemarie still resolutely ignores her baby brother - she'd rather have fun with her schoolmates, such as Anthony and Matthew.

Except of course to tease him, whenever the opportunity arises. (It's like history repeating itself.)
