Anthony's Pizzeria & Ice Cream Parlor - Miami Ave in Wildwood Crest, NJ

So this review is going to be my first post in a series I'm calling Wildwood Za 2022. There are SO MANY pizzerias in the Wildwoods but in my 30+ years of going, I have yet to find a plain slice as good as Mack's. There were a number of spots I wanted to try last year and just didn't have the time to visit, so this year I made an effort to get to all of them and was ALMOST successful. I had a couple new spots pop up that I just had to try so a few will have to wait until 2023.

First up is Anthony's, a pizzeria right on the beach in Wildwood Crest that my parents told me was good. Boy, were they wrong. While the location is prime (literally on the beach), the pizza was straight garbage. I had a bad feeling when I walked in and saw no slices on display and laying eyes upon my heated up slice cemented those fears. As you can see, there was WAY too much sauce and it wasn't even good as it was overseasoned beyond belief. It pretty much tasted like frozen pizza and I wouldn't be surprised if that was exactly what it was. I will admit the crust was fine as it tasted like a breadstick, but honestly, that's not enough to save this slice. Absolutely not worth the $3 price tag. Avoid at all costs.

P.S. When I told my dad it was terrible he said he had a different threshold for bad pizza. Understandable.

anthony: a tired dude who's been raised by his uncle since his parents death. he works at the restaurant, and may or may not have a big ass crush on meg. the restaurant is passed down to him after bruno’s death.

bruno: Anthony’s somewhat shady uncle, who loved him and named his restaurant after him. he dies at the beginning of the comic.

meg: the bartender at Anthony’s. she left college and got a job there to support her two younger siblings, as her parents mysteriously died. she is dating the cook named aaron at the moment, and is hoping to go back to school.

tommy: a hella charismatic waiter at Anthony’s.

greg: just a local nerdy-ass college student.

Aaron: meg’s questionable boyfriend. he honestly really loves her though. he cooks at anthonys.
