hi!! remember all those scary ass minecraft renders i made a while ago? now you can play the modpack i was using to make them!
the modpack was actually originally intended to be fully playable, but i lost motivation like halfway through. so theres two different versions: a "picture mode" where you can just go around and look at the pretty stuff, and a "demo" where you can play what i was able to get done with the gameplay.
spoiler alert... it's pretty much just rain world. with some sweet parkour and immaculate vibes thrown in, sure, but still rain world. wasn't really sure what else to make it, but i still think it turned out pretty well!
so yeah. go download it here:
Demo Mode (gameplay!)
Picture Mode (no gameplay)
to install, open up prismlauncher (or another multimc variant), click "add instance", import, then "browse". then select whichever version you want to play. DO NOT extract the files. it should be pretty much ready to go out of the box!
if youre not playing on prismlauncher... uh... i believe in you :-)
q&a:
q: what am i supposed to do??
a: survive as long as you can! theres a fairly in depth parkour system (keybinds are in the controls menu) so if you take some time with it it'll help quite a bit. dont worry too much about the traditional mc progression, since a. surviving at all is hard as shit and b. good luck finding any trees :p
q: oh my god this isn't optimized at all
a: it's not! you can change the quality of the shaders in the shader pack options (pause menu -> options -> visual settings -> shaderpacks -> hysteria shaders -> shader pack options), or if you really need to you can disable them entirely with 'k'.
(you can also adjust other visual settings with this. tip: motion blur is under "postprocessing")
q: why cant i make a new world?
a: i gutted the world system since theres no point in making new worlds. you should always be playing on the map that comes with it. so, instead of worlds, there's saves. if you want to make a new save, clone the one marked as 'clone this for a new save'
q: szalami. why is it almost two gigabytes
a: distant horizons :-/ totally worth it though, cause some of the views are cool as shit
hey so i've loved all the screenshots you submitted to wounded minecraft screenshots and i'm curious
are you using a mod or is it all built by hand with a filter over it? or something in between?
and if it is a mod i am begging on my hands and knees please tell me which one it is i GOTTA play it-
thanks for asking! i didnt do too much crazy stuff (it's surprisingly easy to entirely overhaul Minecraft's visuals nowawdays); what I have done can be summed up in 5 main parts (below the cut)
1: 2B2T
i downloaded someone else's 2b2t spawn world file off of github, and I've been using that to take my screenshots. 2b2t has fascinated me for a really, really long time, and it happened to fit really well with a worldbuilding project I was doing when I first started taking these screenshots.
i've dropped the worldbuilding project since then, but i've kept the hell world around because i (and y'all, apparently) think it's real neat.
2: No Cubes Reloaded
to me, a big part of the hell world's identity is that it's the barely recognizable mangled remains of minecraft. something bad happened here, and now all that's left is... this.
so, y'know, what better way to visually convey that than to destroy the one thing Minecraft's known for: cubes.
3: Distant Horizons
there's no real artistic meaning behind this one. its just cool to see everything at once.
4: Hysteria Shaders
this is the big one. hysteria shaders is super customizable, and it has probably the best fog in any shader i've ever seen.
the main thing i did was make the sky light entirely red. this, predictably, makes everything else red - but it also washes out any color that isn't red. this basically turns everything into a silhouette highlighted with an aggressive red.
i also massively increased the ground fog. this, combined with the sky light, everything feel like it's smothered in this giant layer of red smoke, surrounded by towering black monoliths.
those are the two biggest changes. i messed with the color grading a bit, and upped every quality setting to the max, but tbh im not sure if those really made a difference.
5: KDCraft
vanilla minecraft's textures don't really fit with the hell world. so i kind of just... replaced them with some other guy's textures.
(on an unrelated note, we really need more horror texture packs!)
TL;DR
wow that uh. probably could have been a hell of a lot shorter. hope you don't mind my rambling lol
anyways: 2B2T spawn + No Cubes Reloaded + Distant Horizons + Hysteria Shaders + KDCraft + a little too much imagination
(also you can absolutely play what i've got set up here! DM me if you're interested.)
