YES!! I WHOLLY AGREE WITH YOUR ANON!! That’s also one of the main reasons I could never jump on the Rumpel ship. Sure I got nothing against them, they’re very realistic but I hate how their writers use Neal/Baelfire.

P.S. I also hate it when they tag SwanFire as id they’re a main ship in the fic when in reality, they’re barely even a side plot. It’s frustrating. WE NEED MORE TRUE SWANFIRE CONTENT DARN IT!

ohmygod! I thought I was the only one who had this frustration but between you and the anon, it’s nice to know I’m not alone. Glad I’m not the only Swanfire shipper who is not a Rumbelle fan. I actually ship Rumple with Cora and I have multiple ships for Belle.

I don’t have a problem with the shippers/fandom but I do get very frustrated when they just use Neal and sometimes Emma as nothing more than a cheerleader for Rumbelle. I have so many issues with the Neal/Rumple relationship both in the show and the fandom and it just gets intensified by the way Neal is used in Rumbelle fics. I was never a fan of Rumbelle in the show and this just made me dislike it more.

And I hear you about the tagging in the fics. I hate when they tag Swanfire and there’s barely a passing mention of our ship in the fic other than saying “oh dad, I think you like belle” or “oh belle, I think you have a thing for Mr. gold”. It seriously sucks. I recently went through the Swanfire AO3 tag and nearly half of it was actually Rumbelle fics just using Swanfire as cheerleaders while another good chunk was CS or SQ fics making Neal the abusive ex. Totally agree that we need more content that is just pure Swanfire!

I noticed another SQ fanfic in the CS tag on ao3.org this morning. 

Common sense dictates, if your fanfic is not CS centric, it should not be in that tag.  Plus, what CS 'shipper is going to go out of their way to read an SQ fanfic that purposely bashes CS or writes Killian Jones as an abusive husband?

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

cs actually reached a point where i was nothing short of amazed, bc this was The Ship, the only one the writers cared about, and they still shot it dead and then stomped on it long after it had died, and i just can’t see how ppl weren’t upset about what their favs were doing to each other towards the end there with all the blatant lies and secrets EVEN WHILE THEY WERE ENGAGED HOLY FUCK WHAT DO THESE WRITERS THINK LOVE IS–

sq is also just problematic af, mostly bc emma is stupid and terrible, and does stupid and terrible things, and a lot of those stupid and terrible things usually affect regina in some stupid and terrible way, and does emma give a fuck? nope. sometimes she leads us to think she does, but then later does something to show that she does not in fact give any fucks. 

and then there’s rum*belle, but i think most people have come to a silent agreement that it’s best we just look away.

cs was slowly dying for me even before canon themselves took the final shot. i have dq blacklisted bc of this fandom. 

it’s actually really hard to ship things in this fandom, i still remember when people thought robin post-marilena somehow owed regina an apology for being deceived, and had no right to be excited at the thought of having another child. why are y’all like this

Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

i used to go hard for CS, and i kind of miss those days when i was still young, naive, and full of hope for a bright future. i used to stan emma in the beginning, but she just crushed my dreams right in my face and never even apologized for it

Most disliked character(s)? Why?

emma. she’s terrible. she’s completely unpleasant. she’s incredibly selfish, and makes stupid, stupid decisions and refuses to learn from any of them. she’s self-absorbed, and while to this day she still struggles with the responsibilities of being “the savior,” she has no problem using the title as a way make herself leader even when she has no idea wtf she’s doing, usually ends up doing nothing, and then ends up with all the credit anyway. she basically started from the bottom and then dug herself into a deeper hole, and it’s embarrassing to think that i ever rooted for her

it’s obnoxious af, no one lets anybody live. no one can be happy without someone needing to send them an anon about why they aren’t allowed to be happy. no one wants to stay in their lane, the idea is just laughable to everyone

so long as it’s not generally gross in any way (pedophilia, etc.) i’m cool

Crack ship: An unusual relationship of any kind of fandom (i.e. books, television shows, movies, ect.) that is unlikely to happen. In fact a person must be on crack to even support such a relationship.

And:

Swan Queen (Emma/Regina) in the beginning of the first. Despite the fact that Regina has repeatedly tried to kill Emma's mother, Emma's father (to a lesser extent, but she still tried), Emma herself, and she succeeded in killing Emma's love interest. 

(Just because it gets LESS cracky by them tolerating each other & becoming friends/family eventually...doesn’t make it any less crack or “slash.”)
