“The wolf is politically defined "endangered”, not biologically. The wolf has never been biologically endangered of extinction - never has. Ever.“
‘Crying Wolf: Exposing the Wolf Reintroduction to Yellowstone National Park’ (2011)
Have you seen 'Crying Wolf'? It's about the motives behind the wolf reintroduction in Yellowstone and I personally find that interesting. On a second note, what caused the tropic cascades in Yellowstone? Because I can never believe that wolves would change rivers.
Yes, I have seen “Cry Wolf”, just recently in fact. Though I believe a lot of it, I think the whole documentary was very…don’t really the correct word for it exactly? “unsourced”? The people interviewed and the interviewer threw out random numbers when it came to population and money, that was my only issue. Like: “In canada there are 10s of thousands of wolves”, when the correct (and scary) number is in the 50 thousands and up.Also, somewhere near the end it took a turn. Something about how activists wanting to eradicate the human species as a whole and some activists blatantly saying that to rancher’s faces and making them go apeshit. My opinion on that is: We’re 7 billion strong on this planet, we could use a little "cutting of the population”. If those hunters understand elk and wolf numbers, why can’t they understand human population numbers? I presume all of the people interviewed in the film where hardcore biblethumpers and presume they(we) should own the planet because ‘God said so’.
Though, I do like the film, I do wish more people would see it. I actually like how they pointed out that wolves killing for sport is “common”, which people don’t know about.
As far as “wolves changing rivers” BS, Sulfide on Deviantart describes the situation way better than I ever could:
