Antichuchos - grilled beef meat served on baked potato underneath. The meat was so tender, juice, and grilled to medium. The potato is a Peruvian staple, served with almost every meal. Can also ask for corns as an additional side.
Fresh juices! My favorite part about Peru.
Chocolate Caliente Especo - dense and creamy hot chocolate, with the perfect sweetness. Dip churros in them, ah perfecto!
Pollo a la Brasa - best chicken ever! tender and juicey, and served with the yellowest fries that I've ever ate.
Chicha - cold drink made from purple corn. yummy!
Ceviche - fresh, raw fish soaked in lime juice. Never thought I would like it (usually not a big fan of raw foods), but it was delicious. Tastes very different from the raw seafoods from sushi.
Quail eggs - hot-boiled quail eggs, makes the perfect healthy snack.
Quinoa soup - quinoa + potatos + carrots. simple and yummy.
Api with Empanada - Api is the hot version of chicha (cold drink made from purple corn). I think I like api more than chicha... maybe because the weather was freezing that day, so it was very comforting to have a warm drink.
Alpaca grilled - the aplaca steak was very tender and juice, without lamb stinky smell, and tastes like pork meat. It was okay, I enjoyed it, but didn't love it.
Nestle's Peruvian chocolate
Aguadito de Pollo - cheap chicken soup full of MSG, but damn it was delicious. Very simple... just broth, noodles, a large piece of chicken breast, and few carrots.
Pisco Sour - cocktail blended with pisco (grape brandy), lime juice, sugar/syrup, egg whites (gives the drink it's foamy texture on top). It's very strong, and a must try Peruvian drink.
Lomo Saltado - the national dish of Peru. It tastes very much like Chinese stir-fry, and the sauce is soy sauce as well. The only thing that makes it different from Chinese food is that it's always served with french fries.
Picarones - deep-fried dessert made with sweet potato, and served with syrup on top. It's not overly crispy nor greasy. Texture is like that of a fried dough. I find them addicting.
Lucuma Milkshake - Lucuma is the native fruit of Peru. But since June wasn't the season for Lucuma, try their milkshake (or ice cream) was the best option. It had a pecan-kind of nutty taste, hard to describe.
Tamarillo fruit - has a very refreshing taste, but not much flavor to it. Tastes like pear to me, but with a much softer texture. I find the seeds very annoying to eat.
Brick Oven Baked Empanada - I ate 3 of them in one setting, with a full stomach. They were that amazing.
Cuy (guinea pig) - guinea pig as a dish - traditional food of Peruvian. Usually served as a whole with the head too, so I wasn't brave enough to try it.
Chicharon - Fried pork with mint leaves, onions, baked potato, and corn. Eat all the ingredients together in one bite, and you will finally know what delicious means.
Papitas - Fried potato with meat inside. Served with lettuce and shredded cheese as a side. It was yummy, and only 1 sole! But both my friend and I got very irritated bowels shortly after.
