Me on my friend's conversation on how she thinks male circumcision is good because it is aesthetically better. Which shouldn't mean a thing when it comes to someone else's genitals.

Even if the AAP is correct that circumcision protects against STD’s, the question that remains is:

Why are you worried about a barely even one year old infant getting a disease that can only be acquired by sex?

... In other words...

What kind of environment are you going to put this infant into that would require them to have protection from sex, at such a young age?

Some people will say, “But circumcision is done for important religious and cultural reasons.” The same is true for female circumcision, which we refer to as genital mutilation. Some people say this is being disrespectful of an important ritual in the Jewish faith. This is true. We are also disrespectful of the Catholic Church’s ban on birth control and masturbation. If Jewish men want to be circumcised as an expression of their faith, why not let them wait until they are 18 years old and able to call the Mohel themselves? That would be a far greater expression of faith than having the end of your penis cut off when you are only a few days old and can’t tell the Torah from a telephone book.

What allowing their parents to circumcise their child is like...

It’s like parents giving their daughters who have the BRCA1 gene a masectomy just because women with that gene are more likely to have breast cancer. Of course, if the daughter agreed it, no problem. But in this case it’s regardless if the daughter agrees or not.
