Argument: “ Male circumcision and female genital mutilation aren’t even close to being on the same level. “
Counter: Actually, they are on the same level. While there are some forms of FGM that are more extreme than others, it does not make either of them less of genital mutilation. Genital mutilation of infants is genital mutilation of infants, regardless of what you believe.
Argument: “ For them to even be slightly equivalent, the entire tip of the male penis would need to be cut off…”
Counter: Look, you can give all the examples in the world about how they’re different. But let’s face it, they’re both the exact same thing, just different portions of the genitals. You don’t understand human anatomy. You don’t understand science. And you have no morals or ethics.
Argument: And for the most part, there are no long term ramifications for circumcised boys.
Counter: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! There are PLENTY of long term ramifications. Roughly about 35% of circumcised boys have a hemorrhage. 10% of them die during the procedure of circumcision. Then, there’s the high risk of trauma, as well as the high risk of a defect and urinary issues.
Argument: “ Tbh, I didn’t even realize people thought it was a big deal until I got on Tumblr. That speaks volumes that the intact movement isn’t all that big in relativity. “
Counter: Not really. It’s more the fact that most people in America think the way you do: that it’s okay. But that’s only because that’s what they were TAUGHT to believe. Because we all live in a culture where it’s normalized and acceptable to do such a thing. As for people in other countries, they don’t even realize half the time that it’s still being done in America.
Argument: “It would be a lot worse (at least the recovery) as an adult. “
Counter: Actually, no it wouldn’t. The recovery would be far easier as an adult. As an adult, you have a stronger immune system and a stronger threshold for pain. When you’re an infant, removing the foreskin is like ripping off a fingernail; the foreskin doesn’t become retractable until later on in life. At your age, if you had your foreskin removed, it would have been a consensual decision that you made yourself and you probably would’ve only felt a pinch and that would’ve been it.
Lord, pro circumcision people are the least educated about this subject.
