BRIMFIELD HAUL

today I went to the Brimfield Antiques Market, a thrice-yearly event in Brimfield, Massachusetts that fills several massive fields with antiques dealers for a week in May, July, and September. I try to get to every Brimfield every year if I can- you can get some good deals, so I bring a certain amount of cash and try to see what I can get within that limit

for a while I've struggled with FOMO and the need to see everything before I buy anything. this isn't feasible with my friends' and my endurance level, given how big it is, so I often end up passing on things I like that are in my budget "In case I see something better" and thus missing out on them when the group is too tired to backtrack. I tried not to do that this year- one rare case where spending more of my budget than usual is actually a good thing

so, at the risk of sounding very tiktok, here is my Haul:

one cotton corset-cover in need of ribbons

one linen chemise

one embroidered wool petticoat for winter (currently in the freezer to kill any potential moth eggs or larvae)

one 1910s-1920s gold-filled crescent moon brooch in an earlier style

one mid-late gold-filled Victorian brooch with damascene work (gold on black)

one small gold-toned hat pin of indeterminate date, for small hats

the undergarments are all Needful things that I don't enjoy making for myself, and all in wearable condition, so I'm very pleased with that. the jewelry...well, I was in need of brooches that went with any color outfit, and these will answer nicely
