to absolutely nobody’s surprise, i’m finishing my prom dress the day of said event.

it’s tomorrow and i’m procrastinating going to bed cause i know when i wake up it’s back to hand sewing

anyway, before i force myself to sleep, here are some progress photos from the last few days

slide n°1 — mock-up hell; they were more tape than fabric by the end.

and i really can’t explain how i alter patterns. some dark force takes over my body and i know i’m suffering but after like 2 hours i have a pattern that fits me

slide n°2 — sleeve engineering (spoiler: i ended up ditching the sleeves)

i love my pink calculator with a sticker of the currency i made up for my made up country with gregory peck’s face on it (he’s my cast for their monarch; i love my fake little country)

slide n°3 — basting and boning channels; it took forever

slide n°4 — eyelet holes before bed, what a life i lead

slide n°5 — the final stretch and the scariest bit of machine sewing (armhole)

my machine scares the crap out of me. it’s my grandma’s from the 70s and it still sews better than my modern machine. BUT IT’S SO LOUD AND SCARY. it’s industrial. did i mention it scares me?
