Okay, so this isn’t really an anti-Steroline post, but I’m tagging it as that anyway because even though I don’t see it that way, I have a feeling some super Steroline fans would see it that way. But I just have to say something. Also, it will be under the cut, and I’ve warned you that it’s coming up. I take no responsibility for things you might be offended by.

First, I want to say that it’s not so much that I don’t like Steroline, it’s just that it doesn’t feel right for me. It’s just because it feels like Stefan’s second choice, like she felt like Matt’s rebound. I did like Caroline and Matt better than Steroline, though. But I just feel like Caroline is better than being the backup. I don’t think Stefan actively thinks about her in that way, but it feels like that’s the way it is. And it’s not because I ship Stefan only with Elena - I don’t. I love Stelena but I like Delena too. I like Stefan and Katherine. I like Stefan and Lexi. So yeah, there’s that.

So I think I’m one of the few people who really hope that Stefan was serious when he tried to break up with Caroline. I love Caroline with Tyler and Ric (I know not a lot of people liked them, but I thought they were great and I was really sad when Caroline just left him for Stefan when he came back). I don’t want Caroline to take the cure. She is so much better off (she even says it - “Oddly I’m better off”) as a vampire. and Stefan wasn’t able to really control his bloodlust. He kept going from one extreme to the other. He needs to be human. And he needs to be with a human. Not necessarily Elena, but someone who he can actually have a life with.

Okay, I’m getting off my soapbox now.

My Thoughts on Stefan/Caroline

Okay so I might not be a fan of Klaus/Caroline but one thing that Stefan will never be able to do is love Caroline the way Klaus does. You don't even need to be an expert to see that it's a GIVEN FACT. People may say Klaus/Caroline is forced on Caroline's part because she was never "in love with him" but I have to disagree. The connection between Klaus/Caroline was always there whether they were laughing, fighting, or just simply staring at each other. You can see how passionate Klaus feels towards Caroline with just ONE LOOK in his eyes. Yes Caroline does also feel something for Klaus but their relationship wasn't fully explored because Klaus is in the Originals. With Stefan you NEVER feel that passion or love he supposedly has towards Caroline. I have ONLY seen him look like that at Elena. Stefan and Caroline may have known each other longer but ask yourself really how well does Stefan really know Caroline personality wise and deep inside? How much of a connection do they have? Sure Stefan helped her through her transition and a few other times but it doesn't mean they have a deeper romantic connection. Klaus understands Caroline down to her core not the person she pretends to be for someone else. The phone call proves it seeing as he gave her parenting advice and was able to calm her down. Do you honestly think Stefan would have been able to do that? For Stefan Elena and Damon Always comes first no matter what. Even when Klaus and Caroline aren't together in the same room and with other people Klaus puts Caroline first. For Klaus just hearing how sad and worried Caroline was enough for him to save Stefan and that is not the only time where he puts her first. The reason why Stefan/Caroline is not real to me is because it's honestly just bad writing. If Elena chose Stefan then there would be no Stefan/Caroline together. It feels like the writers ran out of couples and they did not want Stefan to be alone so they were like "hey let's have him get together with Caroline." People might also say Caroline had "feelings" for Stefan day one but they forget it was back in Caroline's insecure human days when she liked any guy that would give her the time of day. In the phone call scene you can see the emotions that Caroline has been feeling for the longest time. Only Klaus has brought that side out of her. You can see she clearly wanted to keep talking to him. Klaus respects Caroline and her decisions and he just gets her from all aspects. He just sees Caroline for how beautiful she is. Stefan has not even come close to that. ONLY WITH ELENA. What happened to the Stefan that was Caroline's BEST FRIEND? The one that made Caroline smile in her times of need (Season 2 through most of 5). Not the Stefan who acts like a jerk and the WORST boyfriend ever to Caroline (Season 6-7) that DITCHED her in her times of need (season 6) with no intention of even coming back. What happened to the Stefan that respected Elena and her decisions? The Stefan that even though he loves Elena he RESPECTED her choices and SAVED MATT over Elena (Season 4). The one that was able to give Elena up to Damon but still be supportive towards their relationship. That was the REAL STEFAN. So you tell me when did he treat Caroline better than he treated Elena?

So Stefan said Caroline and him had an history for the last 5 years… I guess he’s talking about how she “dated” his brother, and then he spent like 4 years crying over her best friend, while she was with like 3 other guys. Great history.
