I’m interested in the climate of Rumeliana’s subdivisions. Urado is in the far north, so why is Argyros to the east so temperate? Urado’s climate is cold because it’s mountainous, and influenced by the cool ocean currents. There are camels and so on in Argyros, but it’s not actually very warm. 

Please explain why you decided to partner Mahmut with a golden eagle. I wanted to pair the protagonist with an animal, and chose the golden eagle because it fits his character and the setting. Furthermore, the relationship between eagle and handler is eagle = master, handler = servant, and Mahmut has the characteristics of a retainer, so I thought that their partnership worked perfectly. 

Sensei, please tell me about your favourite episode (of the manga). It’s the War of Phoenicia from Volume 3. Until that point, the scope of the story was a world where one person can make a difference. But from then onwards, I was drawing a bigger, international story.

What is the main theme of Shoukoku no Altair? I haven’t really decided, but in the event I think that “What is most important?” has become the theme.
