You mentioned that Atom!c was inspired to become a superhero when he returned to Earth. Was he inspired by other superheroes. Does he know of heroes like Superman or Spiderman? Do such characters exist in his world or are they fictional there as well? Are there any other superheroes or supervillains in Atom!c's world besides himself? Also, on a bit of an unrelated note, why doesn't someone just tell him that everyone's uneasy around him because of his powers. He seems like he would listen.
No real superheroes and supervillains exist in his world. Anton is the only mutant and has nothing greater than himself to fight. The story isn’t about that, anyway.Superman and Spiderman are at most comic book characters, but their fictional existence doesn’t matter here, it’s superhero comics in general that introduced Anton to the concept.He doesn’t choke people out who cross a busy highway, he wouldn’t even know if that’s illegal in the first place, he only focusses on undeniably harmful criminals. Which means he wouldn’t recognize a child abduction if this child wasn’t looking scared while being led to the candy van. Those who Anton has saved are glad their attacker got their just desserts, but naturally can’t ignore the raw insanity he’s capable of. The situation is similar to how some religious people fear God, I suppose. They shit their pants for what this higher being is capable of and don’t dare to question its methods. Like foony penguin man in Madagascar said:“Just smile and wave, boys, smile and wave.“That he has a cute face and shows nothing but good intentions matters little, he’s still a mutant who came out of nowhere and started playing police officer. Nobody knows anything about Atomic. He immediately leaves after his job is done, since his main purpose of returning to Earth was to have a jolly good great cool time. He only fights crime if he happens to come across it.
