Hollywood still drives many people to Los Angeles in search of jobs in the film industry and looks at the phenomenon of the dream factory. With selected works, the exhibition looks back 100 years to the beginnings of Hollywood photography, with references to icons of film history, but also draws the span to the present day. We are very pleased to be able to assist in making George Hoyningen-Huene's iconic portraits of Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin and Ernst Lubitsch, among others, being part of this great exhibition. Late January this year I saw the last few of the Conversation Performances by Nick Cave. Extraordinary evenings. Such courage, beauty, humor, swagger and empathy combined. I took this portrait on my iPhone afterwards and a few months later I realize how much I like it…

David Sylvian’s “Brilliant Trees” album is one of my all-time favorite records—a beguiling mix of jazz, world music and avant-garde pop that is often pretentious but makes up for it through its sheer ambition. So I ordered this single from it on Discogs; the music remains great and it’s interesting to see how they tried to market such non-top 40 music, with a fold-out sleeve and photography by Anton Corbijn, best known for his shots of U2 and Depeche Mode. It is cool, but I wish it wasn’t so beat up; the seller listed it as VG+ and that’s clearly not the case.
