Yes, this exactly. Vampirism is a metaphor for growing up, and its no coincidence that Elenas season where she transitions between adulthood and adolescence is the one where she also transitions between human/vampire and Stefan/Damon

Exactly. Nobody has a problem with Caroline, basically, getting a personality facelift in S2. So why treat Elena differently? Caroline still has the same loved ones in her life but her treatment of them has altered, become better actually. Same with Elena.

I dont want a breakup, either. They arent in a relationship anyway, not really - theyre away from each other all the time. So I guess they wouldnt even change anything to make a pause. Only GOD, no going back on her choice plz.

At this point, I want them to stay together, but step back a bit. Like, get through it together, but have their relationship kind of be on the backburner and holding onto to what they can. Friendship over romance for a bit, but still together.

They're not really functioning like a couple right now anyway,so there can't be any real breakup. They're just kind of...there. I suppose they'll remain so till the sire bond is broken. So friendship will take precedence over romance by default. It's not the time for romance anyway with so much tragedy around. 

And Nat, I don't think a "choice" will come up till at least S6, if it comes up at all. :)

Um, yes, that would be hilarious. I dont even care about Silas. Id rather him be killed and be ineffective straight away than adding him as a main cast member and taking away from any threat he has (AKA Klaus)

Lol and thus Silas would be added to the long list of ineffective villains on TVD. All he needs now is a childhood sob story and a penchant for falling in love with teenage girls XD
