Though it’d been a while since the ball, Nevin couldn’t shake their last conversation. Sure, she hadn’t said anything that she didn’t believe to be true, but had anybody spoken to her about her marriage with vague concern she would have automatically been defensive. Antonio was someone she held dear to her, and whom she respected a great deal - considered a very good friend - so for all of those reasons, she chose to show up that day and ensure they were alright... That, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. “ I just know you must be starving. ” she said, only after ensuring that no one but him was present in the room. She couldn’t remember the last time she had shown up at his office, but his employees had been kind enough to give her entry without giving her away first. “ You know how I’ve been working on my cooking lately, right? I made a lasagna and would love your opinion. ”
