Wow, Cleveland Institute of Music faculty member and concert pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi is busy in Fresno this (spring break) week. He'll be performing the Complete Piano Concertos of Beethoven at Paul Shaghoian Hall tonight, March 13; tomorrow, March 14; and Sunday, March 15.

On Thursday, February 27, 2014, CIM faculty member Antonio Pompa-Baldi, piano, joined several peers in performing a Memorial Concert in honor of legendary pianist Van Cliburn who passed away last year on that date.

How do you make a piano sing? Italian-born pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi tackles the question on his new album, The Rascal and the Sparrow, a tribute to Francis Poulenc and Edith Piaf, two titans of French song who each died 50 years ago. Pompa-Baldi shared his thoughts on the project in this email chat with NPR Music's Tom Huizenga.

CIM Out & About :: American Liszt Society Chicago presents pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi, May 23

On Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m., the American Liszt Society Chicago-Midwest Chapter presents internationally-acclaimed pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi in Recital at Wheaton College.

A Steinway artist and faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Mr. Pompa-Baldi will perform works written and influenced by Franz Liszt. He also will teach a master class the night prior to the concert (May 22 at 7:30 p.m) at the same location.

Today, Jan. 17, at 11 am Eastern, pianist and CIM faculty member Antonio Pompa-Baldi will be live broadcasting a practice session.

Born and raised in Foggia, Italy, Mr. Pompa-Baldi won the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999. In 2001, he won a silver medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Now, in addition to teaching, he has a performance career that continues to extend across five continents, often performing in the world's most renowned concert venues including Carnegie Hall, Severance Hall, Milan's Sala Verdi, Boston's Symphony Hall and Paris' Salle Pleyel--just to name a few.

Be sure to tune in at 11 a.m. to hear this amazing pianist.
