michael rosfeld, an east pittsburgh police officer, shot a black, unarmed, fleeing, 17 year-old boy three times.
that boy's name was antwon rose. he was adored by everyone. he did volunteer work. he had a huge, beautiful smile. he loved kids - someone who knew him said whenever he talked to kids, he would bend down and get on their level, so he wouldn't tower over them.
that same person described him as one of the kindest souls she'd ever met.
michael rosfeld shot him three times. in the back. in the head. afterwards, he reportedly said he didn't know why he shot him.
and rosfeld was found not guilty. not even of involuntary manslaughter.
things like this happen far too often. it hurts every time. it especially hurts when it happens so close to home. i'm so disappointed in pittsburgh and in our justice system as a whole.
Antwon Rose was 17 years old.

There has just been a case of police brutality in my city. A seventeen year old boy named Antwon Rose was shot in the back and murdered by police in east Pittsburgh. Spread the word.
Massive assembly in Downtown Pittsburgh right now marching through the mainstreets (slowing, but not halting, traffic) protesting the recent ruling the Antwon Rose case
There are demands to revisit the law offering what is effectively immunity in any case involving the shooting of a running suspect.
Rose, 17, was shot dead after fleeing a traffic stop last week, sparking days of protest. Officer Michael Rosfeld, 30, was arrested and charged on Wednesday and released after posting bail.
