Faye's facial expressions in this scene were so great. You see hope, joy, and love at the beginning, turning to pure hurt and desperation at the end.
My forever love, my wonderful dream.
Nueng: *Walks into the kitchen to find Anueng covering her fingers in bandaids*
Nueng, gasping: What happened to your fingers?!
Anueng: You know those chefs on TV who cut up their vegetables really, really fast?
Nueng: … Yes?
Anueng: I can’t do that
Blank S1 Ep2 Favorite Scene
I'll never get over the scene at Khun Neung’s apartment, after the rain storm, where she asks Aneung why she wears such big glasses and Aneung explains she was born prematurely because her mother didn’t want her...
First of all, does no one in the Gap universe understand how pregnancy works? (looking at you Jim...)
Second of all this premature birth is used to explain why she was held back in school and is therefore a 20 year old high school senior (She is physically an adult but mentally a child, more on that in another post)
Third, and most importantly, is Khun Neung’s reaction to this which is this mixture of concern, fascination, and self reflection…
Khun Neung hasn’t fully processed her childhood trauma and the collateral damage from leaving the palace (i.e. Song and the Grandma’am), she does later in the series, but not yet
So when Khun Neung asks this of Aneung, I think she is genuinely curious how Aneung didn’t become a closed off and cynical person like she did. After all these two have so much in common when it comes to their childhood trauma.
So Khun Neung is definitely not expecting Aneung's response...
I think this is when Khun Neung really falls for Aneung, because in this moment it becomes apparent that Aneung is strong in a way that Khun Neung isn't, and she really sits with this response for a hot second before Aneung reminds her to change out of her wet clothes.
This last sentiment seals the deal by throwing Khun Neung off her game once again because here is Aneung taking care of her out of concern for Khun Neung's general well being.
Khun Neung mentions often how much she loves her sister Sam and the show makes a very clear point to show that the sisters take care of each other. But, I think perhaps this moment with Anueng is the first time in a very long time that someone who wasn’t Sam took care of Khun Neung without an ulterior motive.
