Okay, deep breath in and out. You can do this!
In upper school, it was a great task to approach people outside your friend group at lunchtime. Especially if your own friendship group knew how much of a crush you had on them! Her two other friends were peering over from the other side of the square.
Lena’s friends were looking at her now as Emily smiled and came over to Lena.
“Hey Lena, I’m in your English class. I don’t know if you want to pair up for this new mini play we’re making? I didn’t see you in a group with anyone else.” She asked, trying to keep her cool and not blush like a loon in front of everyone.
Lena, being Lena, had been mid-way through a dare about stuffing her face with digestive biscuits when Emily approached.
“Huh?” She asked, struggling to chew and swallow quick enough. Her friends were laughing at her and Lena could hardly blame them. She looked like a slightly demented hamster currently.
“One second!” She tried to say through her mouthful of biscuits, pulling out a notepad, flipping it open and quickly scrawling over the page.
I’d love to work with you! The mouthful is a dare, sorry!
