Sam shakily sighed as he slid down against the city building wall. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath, and his heart raced within. He had never stolen anything before, but his hunger had gotten the best of him. After checking his surroundings, he looked back down to the bread loaf he had snatched and ran with. He could still hear the angry bakery yelling about a thief and another worker trying to calm him down.
For now, he waited in the shadows, waited for the business outside to subside. While he waited, he began to munch on the stolen goods. He thought he should save it but right now his empty stomach was controlling him and he downed nearly half the loaf before stopping.
Once he was done, and the outside world had grown dark and calm. He stood up and began walking home. Much to his dismay, it began pouring rain and it was the one day he had no coat. There was nothing to do about it though and he simply continued walking, becoming soaked within a few minutes. As he went, he turned a corner only bump into a man with a group of other behind him.
"Watch where your goin' street rat!" The man growled and shoved Sam aside, moving forward with the rest of the group. "..!" Sam fell and landed in a puddle, only to be splashed even more as a car passed and it's tires caused more water to fly up. He looked down at the bread he had. A small hole in the bag and now it was all soaked.
