Corday’s red thread

Yesterday I finally caved and picked up watching ER again after years and years, which was followed by diving into the Elizabeth Corday tag. Naturally seeing all the amazingly cute art done by @wouldntyoulichentoknow motivated me to try my hand at drawing Lizzy as well. 

Who would I be if I didn’t add a fantasy element. Leaving this one up for interpreation, I’m curious what you folks think of this one.

   tonight has been the first time thea had smiled this much since everything happened. of course there had been good moments scattered through the last year, but she would be lying if she said those outweighed how hard it all had been. it was thanks to m a g g i e that she made it through at all. but tonight was the first time she truly felt like she was on the other side of it all. the worst of it finally felt like it behind her. a feeling that had come in small waves throughout this month, but she’d ignored it, not wanting to get too hopeful only to sink again.

   there was something else though. something that she’d been ignoring because it was wrong. it was complicated and messy and thea had already had enough of that to last a lifetime. but it was harder now as they sat on the couch together, still flush and laughing from their night out. the way maggie’s smile brightens not just the room, but her heart. and thea finds herself leaning in before realizing how close she’d gotten. casually though she covers it by resting her head on maggie’s shoulder.

   “   tonight was just what i needed ,   ” thea sighs softly , “   even if the bartender made e v e r y drink i ordered wrong ,   ” she adds with a laugh. “   my only regret is that we didn’t grab food on the way home ...   ” that’s what she uses as an excuse to get up and put a little space between them. heading, a little wobbly, to the kitchen for a late night snack. / @curseyou​
