I wanted to try a design for The Painted Lady that conforms a little more to the show's design principles (tho I've yet to study it Properly)
on the left is her Original design, and on the right is just sort of what I came up with the other day - I'm not committed to this design replacing the original, but I'm also open to changing the original somehow. I really need to sort what design principles I want to keep in mind (especially with how much trouble the heroes' costumes have given me...)
as fond as I am of her original design, I know there's a lot of work that could be done on it. still, I tried to partially keep the wedding/mourning duality

got rid of her antennae and wings. the show doesn't give them real bits like that, and allusions to antennae are generally more subtle.
switched out her dress for pants. they don't really do floor length gowns, and while I could've made it more like what Mayura has going on (for... Many reasons), I wanted to try out pants because Emilie often wore pants <3
her pants aren't sparkly here and that's not really for any particular reason, I just didn't feel like doing it right now kaignjbfs sorry gang
switched out her cape situation. before (because of the wings), it wouldn't have really gone past her shoulder blades (and the wings would peek out from there), so now the cape's been lengthened to sort of invoke folded butterfly wings
shortened her veil. I probably should've reduced it more, but I like the effect of being able to Mostly hide her eyes, or have that glow effect when I feel like it. I can have little a design crime. as a treat.
changed her hair and veil accessory. I've always been back and forth about the flowers on the veil, but I felt like they weren't really something the show would do, so I opted for her little crown. once I did that, her hair needed to change, and a loose bun felt like it played nice with the change (at least, I'm pretty sure that was the idea, it's been a bit since I made that choice)
the color palette did not change, just because I spent a Long time trying things out and decided "why not"
i like how despite this round's name being 'hidden' — which is an obvious reference to hide and seek — this dumbasse's first reaction is to SCREAM the names of these two as if both Juvia and Lyon aren't his opponents here.🥀🥀 look at our contestant dawggg we're not gonna win this round.
