Link is the greatest pirate
I went to check Nintendo's twitter and what the hell happened??????
On the one hand, I get it: they don’t want to commit to an idea or spoil something they could currently be working on.
On the other hand, it is so, SO frustrating to see the idea be sort of rejected, especially when ToTK could have easily facilitated a playable Zelda in the distant past.

“We created the Rito as the evolved form of the Zora that appeared in "Ocarina of Time" and the Koroks as what the Kokiri became once they left the forest. They appear different, but they have inherited their blood.” — Eiji Aonuma, Zelda Box (Japanese magazine interview)
The Zora typically use a modified crest of the Goddess Nayru as their tribal crest; three crescents equidistant apart around a central point. [OoT][OoA][WW][TP][ALBW][BotW] This shape is also seen in the form of the spiritual stone of water. [OoT] As you can see, this symbol was used by the Rito during the era of the Great Sea, proving their connection!
Fanart for my favorite anime character ever, Aonuma Shun.
