Appalachian Power Plans Reliable Upgrades in Marshall County
Wheeling, W.Va. (May 14, 2026) – Appalachian Power Company (APCo) is continuing efforts to strengthen electric service reliability for customers in Marshall County. Crews will be working Saturday, May 16, weather permitting, to complete infrastructure upgrades in the Washington Lands area. To allow lineworkers to safely perform this work, a planned outage will occur for customers in the area from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this time, crews will make upgrades to equipment that supports electric service in the area, including utility poles, crossarms and transformers. These upgrades are designed to reduce the number of customers affected by future service interruptions and improve restoration times when outages do occur. Crews will perform this work as quickly and safely as possible. “While planned outages are never convenient, they are necessary to safely complete work that benefits our customers and communities in the long run,” said Chad Weatherson, distribution systems supervisor for APCo. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding as crews work to improve service for you and your neighbors.” The work is part of APCo’s ongoing commitment to modernizing its electric system. By upgrading its infrastructure, APCo is working to deliver safer, more reliable service to the communities it serves. Customers with questions about the project or its impact on their service can visit AppalachianPower.com/Contact or call 1-800-982-4237 for assistance. Read the full article
