I finally finished my Re-Entry inspired marathon of Clone Wars and that comment in Ashlesha about "this is a kids' show??" makes so much sense. This is SO DARK, jeez. But now I have so much more context for a lot of this! Next up will be Rebels. :D Again, thanks for drawing me back into Star Wars. I'd forgotten how much I love it.

I'll second The Librarians. It's even campier, but it's got a lot of the same writers/directors/cast. Sirens is pretty short, but also hilarious (if medical stuff isn't triggery - it's about EMT/paramedics). Supergirl is also sweet and adorable.

SUPERGIRL. It's literally everything you listed. I'm also watching Brooklyn 99 right now, and it's pretty good, but I do have a hard time divorcing the police setting from current events

So, last night I asked you all for TV help, and @lbmisscharlie was one of the first responders, so I watched the pilot of Supergirl while doing my Sunday laundry marathon. Which was adorable, and I will be watching more. If the gifsets she’s been posting lately are anything to go by there are canonically queer characters, which makes me very happy.

And then this morning I woke up to the above in my inbox, and holy shit I did not realize Christian Kane* was in The Librarians? Or that it was a Dean Devlin show? My dudes, I will be watching this too. All other shows mentioned were already on my TBW list, but have moved up significantly, I just don’t watch all that much TV so it might take me a while. Thank you! Regularly-scheduled book blogging will return soon!

I always want to try things like this, but I am terrible at having to alter recipes - what is a good coconut oil substitute? I assume there's a reason so much is made with it, rather than any of the other plant oils, but I am deathly allergic to coconut.

It’s the fat of the moment, it’s supposedly one of the “healthy” fats, which is why it’s everywhere. HEALTH FOOD. *throws up hands* I’m honestly not sure why it’s even in there to start with. Might be to keep the fudge somewhat soft in the freezer. 

Because you’re not baking with it, you can be a little more lax with what you use -- you don’t need to worry about smoke points or melting temp or anything like that. What you need is a fat that is solid at room temperature. Butter, lard, palm oil, or Crisco are all options BUT. 

I don’t know how “healthy” any of those are considered, and using something like Crisco might very well offset any health benefits of eating this as opposed to actual facts fudge. 

If I were you I’d actually try leaving the fat out entirely and using that banana I took out instead. Try things that are close in texture to the oil, like mashed banana or mashed avocado, or even something like cold (unflavored) mashed potato (which is sometimes used in real fudge, and has a bit of fat in it anyway). 

The art of substitution is basically one part “understanding how cooking works” to four parts “trying shit until something works”, especially with a recipe like this :) Make small batches -- mix up everything else, split it into quarters, and try four different things until you find one you like. Good luck :)

Just FYI, that article on the NC hotline to report people in bathrooms is from a fake news site. NC is terrible, but that specific thing is not happening.

I’ve seen the story picked up in a couple places so far, but I’ll keep looking for new evidence to confirm or deny. I’ve seen the story on CBS as well so far. Thank you helping fact-check!
