Aperture Feedback

This was the photo I selected from the depth of field aperture task. I think the f/5.6 worked best as the small pumpkin in the front of the image is in good focus while the larger ones at the back are out of focus.

The feedback I received was that I could crop the image so it better fits into the rule of thirds composition.

This is the change I made to the photo. I think with the main pumpkin (front right) being on the bottom right crossection of the grid it helps for the viewers eyes to flow from the front to back of the photo more easily and it helps to cut out some of the fence and space in the background.

Depth of Field - Pairs of Images

The first image is an example of shallow depth of field and was taken with a focal length of 55mm at f/5.6 on aperture priority mode. The second image is an example of deep depth of field and was taken on the same settings except it was at f/22. In the first image the log is in really sharp focus with a lot of the background blurred, whereas the second image is focused the same across the whole photograph. 

In this next set of images the camera was set to f8 on aperture priority mode at a 55mm focal length. For the first photograph I stood around 1 metre away making the leaves stand out in sharper focus than the background. However in the second photo, I stood around 4 metres back from the subject which brought more of the scene into focus and created a deeper depth of field.
