Malfunction
The simulacrum had never been so terrifying to you than as he hovered over you, extended claws out and carving into the concrete ground in hard, unforgiving scrapes you were thankful had avoided your flesh.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the way they dented the ground, chipping away with ease.
Every carve was gruesome, and while it had thankfully avoided contact, they neared your ears, digging into the floor without mercy and surrounding you with the grating sound.
The bestial appearance of his current body served you no comfort either as the long snout of a horned beast dragged along the side of your face, inching down to your extended neck in a painfully slow stroke that had you troubled.
You weren't sure why it happened, why your partner had decided to turn against you, but you were suddenly shaken, not knowing what to do.
-Moreso, what to expect.
You were speechless, your words caught in your throat as his had their own difficulty leaving him too.
All throughout, his voice was nothing but harsh rasps as his speech seemed to malfunction. whatever address he made an attempt to spit out became unrecognizable as he continued to loom over you with the same persisting animosity that left your back pressed to the ground in both sheer terror and utter shock.
"Scared of me?" he asked you, and you can hear the smirk in his voice, the very arrogant nature that has you rolling your eyes slowly, dramatically just so he can eat up every second of it.
"Scared of you?" you say with a little snort.
"-As if."
You think back to that very moment, realizing how you'd never been on the other end.
You'd never been beneath him, at his mercy like you were now.
"R-rev..."
You cursed the way your voice failed you, the way you seemed tiny and shaken during every attempt to speak.
You detested how hard you swallowed down too, how afraid you seemed when it was so much more than that.
-Because you never thought he'd suddenly turn back to you the way he was now.
You never thought he'd be so close to slicing into you so ruthlessly.
Your hands fell over dark patches of fur, pressing over the softer material as you tried to push him further, fruitlessly trying to draw space while continuing to look up at him with wide eyes.
"What's wrong with you?" you managed to say, your eyes looking up at him with concern for both of you.
Slowly, your glistening eyes began to close more, the small wince you performed as he released a low growl nearly prying out a few captured tears.
A snarl left him, and it raked you with a cold shiver that coursed through your body in a lightning-flash travel.
"-You're..." The word left him with difficulty and proceeded with strain as he spat out another that stole your breath,
"Mine..."
Your eyes widened furthermore as he finally shifted. He leaned back slightly and balanced on his knees, his hands aiming towards your cheeks, both smothered in large, clawed grips.
His claws dug down over the flesh as he held you at first, but they eased their desperation as he tried to wipe away your few tears.
Your hands slowly lost their strength and the attempt to push him away was lost with the intent. Instead, they traveled up to his face, caressing his face plate, and it seemed to ease him.
It was enough for the insistent fizzling he kept making to sooth down to silence.
Softly, he let out a little sound that had the corners of your lips perked, because he sounded so strangely sweet.
In the most unbelievable way, it reminded you of a whimper.
The hands that had been over your cheeks drew back before they found yours, and you could feel the genuine attempt he had to be tender as they shook over yours.
"I'm right here..." you say.
"I'm not going anywhere."
