The main 8 and their Pokemon Go teams:

America: At first he goes for Team Mystic because it’s blue, but then he realizes it’s represented by the Ice bird. No offense to Articuno, but cold sucks. Team Instinct’s description sounds cool and so is Zapdos, and he doesn’t need any extra strength (or to be on the team England is likely to join), so he joins Team Instinct.

China: He joins Team Valor because it’s lucky red.

England: Red is his color, and of course the team that focuses on strength and winning is the best, so he joins Team Valor.

France: Articuno is the most beautiful and elegant of the three and his favorite color too, so he joins Team Mystic. Being on the rival team to England’s is a nice bonus.

Germany: After carefully reading and analyzing the descriptions of the three teams, he joins Team Mystic because of their ideals.

Italy: He takes forever to decide, because he doesn’t like choosing sides. In the end, he calls Germany for help and ends up joining Team Mystic because it’s what Germany picked and he does like blue, even though Germany tries to convince him Team Instinct might be better for him if he doesn’t like conflict...

Japan: Although he prefers red and yellow, he joins Team Mystic because he also prefers to keep a cool head at all times. 

Russia: He joins Team Instinct because yellow is his favorite color and he likes the idea of hatching lots of little baby Pokemon.
