Say everyone is at a restaurant and then the check comes. Who is the island that everyone makes pay because they’re the richest?
palau has the 3rd largest gdp per capita next to australia and new zealand, but it looks like guam has the highest gdp per capita out of the pacific.
i have risen from the seas!

Hey, Yap. Can I see those giant stone coins you have?
ah yes, the iconic rai stones. these are the world's largest currency that can be seen displayed in museums or in the island of yap itself. apparently these are still in use today! just used in occasions like marriage, inheritance, etc. there are apparently 6000 of them scattered in the island today. little fun fact though: these were quarried in various nearby islands, but most of them were made and transported from palau!
these stones vary in size, but a lot of them were HUGE. so huge that they needed hundreds of men to transport them. some even had to be rolled like wheels on an axle. there were even separate canoes for the men to go back to yap and for the stone on the other canoe to be let loose and hope the sea currents will drift it back home. however, these often got lost in sea... the one yap is showing right now isn't the biggest stone she has, though. it's only a little over 9ft tall. (yap is 5'3. the biggest and tallest stones would've been about 12ft)
