i'm still drawing after months! though i haven't been using tumblr as often as i used to, i might make a comeback. well, my comebacks are usually me posting 3 times and then disappearing for weeks so.. sorry about that if responses feel slow. vel has personal stuff to deal with like everyone else, after all!

who eats the most food to the most lighest eaters nomnomnm

so... the lightest eaters would be vanuatu and new caledonia. miss vanny over here wants to maintain a balanced diet and it's completely fine! (sometimes she might miss a meal but she's okay with it.)

new cal on the other hand isn't much of a food lover and prefers to eat a few stuff. (...unless it's bougna, which is a feast traditional dish of the kanak people AND his #1 favorite food.)

the ones who eat the most food however would be tonga and samoa. as you can see, they like to compete in almost everything, including who eats the most. not even food is safe from the rivalry of these two nations.

however, there's someone who can surprisingly eat more than them.

kiribati is the complete opposite of new caledonia when it comes to food. if he isn't a food lover, then THEY are. their dream is to pretty much taste the different cuisines of every corner in the world. other nations are a little intimidated as to how they eat so much yet almost never gain weight, but really, they just have high metabolism.

palau has the 3rd largest gdp per capita next to australia and new zealand, but it looks like guam has the highest gdp per capita out of the pacific.

do the pacific nations have any new years traditions?

no matter where you go, there's always some fireworks and parties when it comes to new year's day! but while the bustling, big cities in australia and new zealand are loud and bright, some of the other pacific islanders are more lowkey about it. so how do these tiny isles welcome 2026? let's check in on the middle of the ocean, shall we?

(note: i only have like a few examples, so not every pacific nation will be mentioned here, just some selected ones from what i could find online!)

kiribati

despite being the first country to welcome a new day and celebrate the new year due to the line island's utc +14 time zone, they're surprisingly chill. + food....

2. samoa

as one of the most important customs within the samoan islands, 'ava rituals are done to mark important events in samoan society.

3. tonga

unlike other countries, tonga is pretty chill when it comes to new year as well. tonga is a religious nation, with about 99% of the population identifying as christians. also, many tongans celebrate new year by going to church, and churches put on sunset and midnight services.

4. palau

no idea who started this or how it started since it's been passed down from generation to generation. maybe palau's elder sister on the back knows something, since she's lived a bit longer than he did?

extra: this is not one of the traditions, but i wanted to show the time difference between kiribati and hawaii. this also happened with the samoan brothers as we can see fom image 2. but either way, happy new year everyone!

whats yalls fav movie?

i dunno if anyone else is a movie fan, but hawaii and samoa are. and they love lilo and stitch! the others have seen this too (particularly the polynesian nations) and liked it, but these two are the type of people to rewatch it multiple times!

lilo and stitch aside, some of the nations are also quite fond of moana. heck, even samoa and hawaii love it just as much as the previous one we talked about! even those from melanesia and micronesia started to like it after this particular scene:

since hawaii's a movie person, she thought it'd be a good idea to invite fiji, solomon and marshall to a movie night watching the sequel. so one night, they actually did it in their little space where they do things like these every once in awhile. and of course talk shit about australia and new zealand while they're at it

Thank you for answering my question she. Now my next question, who’s the tallest and shortest, both physical, and looking at it, geographically in Polynesian and Micronesian (excluding Papau New Guinea because I have a gut feeling it’s her again)

hey anon, you don't have to worry about papua new guinea appearing again for physical appearances. she's not the tallest, but she's not the shortest either. (even though she's like 5'1 but still)

polynesia: - samoa (6'1, 185 cm) - austral is. (4'11, 149 cm)

...a foot and a couple of inches. a 36cm difference. jesus, samoa's tall as hell.

micronesia: - kiribati (5'8, 172 cm) - guam (5'0, 153 cm)

i was thinking of including melanesia since png's thankfully not the shortest (solomon is lol), but this said polynesia and micronesia so yeah..

i actually have no idea what this means, so i assumed you were talking about the highest points for each country. i legit had to make an entire list of the highest points in every oceania nation for this LMAO

polynesia: - french polynesia (highest point: mt. orohena (tahiti) - 2,241 m, 7,352 ft), - tuvalu (highest point: some unnamed location on niulakita - 5 m, 15 ft)

it seems that she doesn't mind that she has the lowest "highest points" of oceania despite already being physically short.

micronesia: - northern mariana islands (highest point: mt agrihan - 965 m, 3166 ft) - marshall islands (highest point: some unnamed location on likiep - 10 m, 33 ft)

marshall however...

...btw your gut feeling was right, anon. papua new guinea is indeed the tallest out of melanesia and everyone else with its highest point being mt. wilhelm at 4,509 m and 14,793 ft.

If the oceania countries were to be animals, what kind of animal would they be?

most of them would either be birds, reptiles, or sea creatures. there's not much when it comes to land mammals, though.

note: not all of the oceania nations are included in this, in fact, it's almost all of them...

most of these animals are native, some are either national animals (or a state animal in hawaii's case) or are widespread but are still important or symbolic to the nation's culture, or they're widely considered a national animal if the country doesn't have an "official" one.

honestly tokelau's animal was the hardest for me. there's only two animals native to them and one of them is this specific type of click beetle that has no image (an incredibly niche animal in a niche nation. GODDAMN)
