If there’s one misused quote to make Marlene angry, it would be Blood is thicker than water given its butchered nature. It was supposed to be The Blood of the Covenant is thicker than the Water of the Womb, meaning the chosen connections are more important than those that are biological. She has tried her hardest to shed everything Max about her, to become someone who is purely McKinnon, Gryffindor, Order of the Phoenix. They are her family, not some horrible purebloods that believe appearances are everything.
